Product Overview

The Intellinet 10GBase-T to 10GBase-R Media Converter is designed to bridge the gap between copper-based 10GBase-T networks and fiber-based 10GBase-R networks. This device allows for seamless integration of high-speed fiber optic connections into existing copper network infrastructures, ensuring reliable data transmission over longer distances.

Connections and Setup

To set up the media converter, first connect the UTP port to your network device, such as an Ethernet switch, using a Cat5e or better cable. For the fiber connection, insert a compatible SFP+ transceiver module into the SFP+ slot on the converter. Once the transceiver is installed, connect the appropriate fiber optic cable to the transceiver and the other end to your fiber network equipment. Ensure the device is powered using the included 12 VDC power adapter. Using an incorrect power supply may damage the unit and void the warranty.

LED Status Indicators

The front panel features several LED indicators to help monitor the device status. The PWR LED indicates if the device is powered on. The LNK/ACT LED shows the status of the fiber connection, with a solid light indicating an active connection and flashing indicating data transfer. The SD LED confirms that a fiber signal is detected. The 10G LED indicates a 10 Gbps connection status. Finally, the TX Link and TX Act LEDs provide information regarding the copper connection and data activity.

Safety and Maintenance

For safe operation, keep the device away from liquids, moisture, and direct heat sources. Do not attempt to open or repair the unit yourself, as this can lead to electrical shock and void the warranty. Always unplug the device before cleaning, and use only a dry cloth.
