Quick guide from the manual
The Electro-Harmonix Lizard Queen is a fixed-gain octave/distortion fuzz pedal. It is designed to be powered by a 9V battery or an external 9VDC power supply. The device features a True Bypass circuit. To operate, connect your guitar to the INPUT jack and your amplifier to the AMP jack. Use the footswitch to engage or bypass the effect, indicated by the status LED.
Controls and Connections
The pedal features three main control knobs and standard input/output jacks:
- OCTAVE Knob: Controls the intensity of the octave-up effect. Turn clockwise to increase the octave intensity.
- BALANCE Knob: Adjusts the balance between two distinct tones: SHADOW (a dark, smooth, sustaining fuzz) and SUN (a brighter, raspy, biting fuzz). This knob is most effective with higher OCTAVE settings.
- VOLUME Knob: Sets the overall output level of the pedal.
- INPUT Jack: Connect your instrument here. Plugging in a cable activates the power when using a battery.
- AMP Jack: Connect to your amplifier.
- 9V Power Jack: For use with an optional 9VDC, center-negative power supply.
Battery Replacement
To change the 9-volt battery:
- Remove the 4 screws located on the bottom of the pedal.
- Carefully take off the bottom plate.
- Replace the battery.
- Warning: Do not touch the circuit board while the bottom plate is removed to avoid damaging components.

Practical help
Common problems
Unplug the input cable from the INPUT jack when the unit is not in use to prevent battery drain.
Verify the power supply is 9VDC with center-negative polarity. Ensure the power supply is rated for at least 10mA.
Do not exceed 12VDC at the power jack and ensure the correct polarity is used.
Before use
- Verify the power supply is 9VDC, center-negative.
- Ensure the input cable is connected to the INPUT jack to activate power.
- Check that the 9V battery is fresh if not using an external power supply.
- Ensure the amplifier is connected to the AMP jack.
Model compatibility
- Requires 9VDC, center-negative power supply.
- Do not exceed 12VDC.
- Power supplies rated for less than 10mA may cause unreliable operation.
