Quick guide from the manual

The Lizard Queen is a fixed-gain octave fuzz pedal. To begin using it, connect your guitar to the INPUT jack and your amplifier to the AMP jack. Power the unit using a 9V battery or an external 9VDC center-negative power supply. Press the footswitch to engage the effect; the Status LED will light up when the effect is active. The pedal features True Bypass, meaning the signal passes through unaffected when the effect is off.

Controls and Connections

The pedal features three main control knobs and two audio jacks:

  • OCTAVE Knob: Controls the intensity of the octave-up effect. Turn clockwise to increase the octave intensity.
  • BALANCE Knob: Adjusts the balance between SHADOW and SUN tones. SHADOW provides a classic, dark, smooth, and sustaining fuzz. SUN provides a brighter, raspy, and biting fuzz. This knob is most effective when the OCTAVE setting is high.
  • VOLUME Knob: Sets the overall output level of the pedal.
  • INPUT Jack: Connect your guitar here. Plugging into this jack activates the power when using a battery.
  • AMP Jack: Connect your amplifier here.

Power and Battery Replacement

The Lizard Queen can be powered by a 9V battery or an optional 9VDC center-negative power supply. The device requires 5mA of current. Do not exceed 12VDC at the power jack, as this may damage the device.

Important Battery Note: Plugging a cable into the INPUT jack activates the power. To prevent the battery from draining when the unit is not in use, always remove the input cable.

To change the 9V battery:

  1. Remove the 4 screws located on the bottom of the pedal.
  2. Take off the bottom plate.
  3. Replace the battery.
  4. Reattach the bottom plate.
  5. Caution: Do not touch the circuit board while the bottom plate is removed to avoid damaging components.

Practical help

Common problems

Battery drains quickly

Unplug the input cable when the unit is not in use, as plugging into the INPUT jack activates the power.

Device acts unreliably

Ensure the power supply is rated for at least 10mA, as supplies rated for less can cause unreliable operation.

Device does not power on or is damaged

Verify the power supply is 9VDC with center-negative polarity. Using the wrong polarity or voltage (exceeding 12VDC) may damage the device and void the warranty.

Before use

  • Connect your guitar to the INPUT jack.
  • Connect the AMP jack to your amplifier.
  • Ensure you are using a 9V battery or a 9VDC center-negative power supply.
  • Press the footswitch to engage the effect; the Status LED should light up.

Specs in practice

Center-Negative
The required polarity for the power plug; using the wrong polarity can damage the device.

Model compatibility

  • Compatible with 9V battery.
  • Compatible with 9VDC center-negative power supplies (e.g., Electro-Harmonix 9.6DC-200, MOP-D10, or S8).
