Quick Guide

The Mean Well XBG-160 series is a 160W AC/DC LED driver featuring constant power mode. This guide provides essential information for installation and operation. Always inspect the driver for damage before installation. Ensure the total luminaire weight, including the driver, does not exceed 10kg. Use appropriate mounting hardware with spring washers to ensure a secure fit.

Product Overview

The XBG-160 series is designed for indoor and outdoor applications with an IP67-rated metal housing. It operates within a wide input range of 90-305VAC. The series includes different models based on AC cable options (fixed cable or connector) and function options (A-Type or AB-Type).

Installation

The driver can be installed using various methods such as Hanger, Chain, or High Bay Light configurations. Follow these safety guidelines:

Installation methods: Hanger, Chain, and High Bay Light
Installation methods: Hanger, Chain, and High Bay Light
  • Inspect the driver for cracks or damage upon receipt.
  • Do not drop or bump the unit.
  • All screws, including the suspension screw, must be paired with a spring washer and locked tight.
  • The total weight of the luminaire must be limited to 10kg or less.
  • Protect the luminaire from shock during transportation.

Dimming Operation (AB-Type)

The AB-Type models support 3-in-1 dimming, allowing the output constant current level to be adjusted via DIM+ and DIM- terminals using one of three methods:

  • 0-10VDC: Apply an additive voltage between DIM+ and DIM-.
  • 10V PWM Signal: Apply a PWM signal (frequency range 100Hz - 3KHz).
  • Resistance: Connect an additive resistance.

Important: Do not connect DIM- to Vo-. Direct connection to LEDs is suggested; it is not suitable for use with additional drivers.

Technical Specifications

  • Input Voltage: 90-305VAC
  • Rated Power: 160W
  • Efficiency: Up to 93%
  • Protection: IP67, Short Circuit, Over Voltage, Over Temperature
  • Operating Temperature: Tcase -40 to +90 degrees Celsius

Practical help

Common problems

Dimming not functioning

Ensure you are using an AB-Type model. Verify that the dimming signal (0-10V, PWM, or resistance) is correctly applied to the DIM+ and DIM- wires. Do not connect DIM- to Vo-.

Driver not starting

Check that the input voltage is within the 90-305VAC range. Ensure all AC input connections are secure.

Overheating

Ensure the driver is installed in an environment that allows for free air convection. Check that the Tcase temperature does not exceed +90 degrees Celsius.

Before use

  • Inspect the driver housing for any cracks or physical damage.
  • Verify that the mounting surface and hardware can support the total luminaire weight (max 10kg).
  • Ensure all screws are installed with spring washers and tightened securely.
  • Confirm the input voltage matches the 90-305VAC specification.
  • For AB-Type, prepare the appropriate dimming control method (0-10V, PWM, or resistance).

Specs in practice

Constant Power Mode
The driver maintains the rated power output across a range of output currents, providing flexibility for different LED configurations.
3-in-1 Dimming
Supports three different control signals (0-10V, PWM, Resistance) to adjust the output current.

Images and diagrams

  • The block diagram illustrates the internal protection circuits, including O.L.P. (Over Load Protection), O.V.P. (Over Voltage Protection), and O.T.P. (Over Temperature Protection).
  • The dimming wiring diagrams show the correct connection points for DIM+ and DIM- for different control methods.

Model compatibility

  • AB-Type models are required for dimming functionality.
  • The driver is intended for direct connection to LEDs; do not use with additional drivers.
  • Products sourced from the Americas region may not have PSE/CCC/BIS/KC logos.
