Product Overview
The Nonin 1000USB-C interface adapter is designed to connect Nonin handheld pulse oximeters to a Continua-compliant Application Hosting Device (AHD) or a personal computer (PC). This adapter facilitates the transfer of real-time data between the pulse oximeter and the host device, provided the host supports the ISO/IEEE 11073-10404:2010 standard for pulse oximeters.
Safety Information
To prevent the risk of electric shock to the patient or operator, follow the setup sequence strictly. Do not touch the patient and the accessible pins on the accessory simultaneously. Ensure all connected equipment complies with relevant IEC standards (e.g., IEC 60950 for data processing, IEC 60601-1 for medical equipment). Only use Nonin-branded accessories to avoid improper performance or patient injury.
Setup and Installation
Follow these steps to install the adapter:
- Follow the instructions provided by your Continua AHD vendor to set up the host device.
- Connect the pulse oximeter sensor connector to the Oximeter adapter port.
- Connect the sensor to the Sensor adapter port.
- Connect the adapter port to the USB port on your Continua AHD or PC.
- Follow the AHD vendor instructions for data collection.
The LED on the unit will blink green until the appropriate PHDC driver is installed and loaded. Once the drivers are loaded and the unit is ready to transfer data, the LED will light steady green.
System Integration
Incorporating the device into a medical system requires the integrator to identify, analyze, and evaluate risks to patients, operators, and third parties. Any subsequent changes to the medical system, such as changing the configuration or adding/disconnecting devices, may introduce new risks and require additional analysis. Issues resulting from user-initiated changes may include data corruption or loss.
Care and Maintenance
Clean the device by wiping it with a soft cloth dampened with a mild detergent or a 10% bleach solution. Do not use undiluted bleach or other cleaning solutions, as this may cause permanent damage. Dry the device with a soft cloth or allow it to air dry.
