Safety and Residual Risks

Operating in hazardous environments carries inherent risks. Always ensure the device is undamaged and operated within specified technical limits. Do not modify the device. Before any work, ensure the device is de-energized. Use only damp cloths for cleaning to prevent static accumulation; do not use high-pressure water jets.

Installation and Assembly

The device is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. For outdoor installations, a protective roof or wall is recommended. The hinge cover must face downwards, and the cable entry must face upwards. Secure the unit to a flat surface using three bolts and washers. The mounting holes are slotted for adjustment.

Auxiliary Contacts

The standard version includes one auxiliary contact (1 NC + 1 NO). Up to two 8080/1 auxiliary contacts can be installed. If using Ex i circuits, specific Ex i covers and insulating sleeves are required to maintain the necessary 50 mm clearance between intrinsically safe and non-intrinsically safe circuits.

Operation

Only use R. Stahl 8581/12 plugs. The switch can be locked in the 0 or I position using a padlock (max. diameter 8 mm). Ensure the plug is fully tightened to maintain the IP protection rating.

Maintenance and Repair

Regular inspections should check for housing damage, seal integrity, secure connections, and cleanliness. After any short circuit in the main circuit, the entire socket flange must be replaced as the switch contacts are sealed. Repairs must only be performed by R. Stahl.
