Before First Use

Before preparing your first pot of coffee, perform the following steps:

1. Thoroughly clean the carafe, lid, and removable cone filter basket in hot, sudsy water.
2. Rinse and dry all parts.
3. Clean the internal components by brewing two full carafes of tap water without coffee grounds.
4. Turn the unit off and wait 10 minutes between these two cleaning cycles.

Brewing Instructions

1. Plug the unit into a 120V AC outlet.
2. Fill the carafe with cold tap water and pour into the water chamber.
3. Place a #4 cone-shaped paper filter into the filter basket.
4. Add one level tablespoon of drip or regular grind coffee per cup desired.
5. Set the Aroma Control dial to your preferred strength.
6. Place the carafe on the warming plate and switch the power button to ON (I).
7. Pause and Pour: You may remove the carafe during brewing to serve a cup. Dripping will stop automatically. Replace the carafe within 60 seconds to resume brewing.
8. Once brewing is complete, wait one minute for the remaining coffee to drip into the carafe before serving.
9. Switch the unit to OFF (O) when finished.

Care and Cleaning

Regular maintenance ensures the best coffee flavor and longevity of the machine.

• Daily Cleaning: Wash the carafe and filter basket in hot, sudsy water. Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth.
• Descaling: Recommended at least once a month (or every two weeks if you have hard water).

Descaling Procedure

1. Fill the carafe with a solution of one part white vinegar to three parts cold water. Pour into the water chamber.
2. Place a clean #4 filter in the basket and turn the unit ON.
3. Run the unit until the carafe is half full, then turn it OFF.
4. Let the solution cool in the carafe for 10 minutes, then pour it back into the water chamber.
5. Turn the unit ON again and let the remaining solution cycle through.
6. After the cycle finishes, let the unit cool for 10 minutes, then run a full cycle with fresh, cold water to rinse.

Safety Warnings

• Do not immerse the cord, plug, or unit in water.
• Do not use basket-style paper filters; they may cause spills.
• Do not move the appliance while it contains hot liquids.
• Keep the appliance at least 4 inches away from walls or other objects during operation.
• Do not leave an empty carafe on the warming plate while the unit is ON.
