Quick guide from the manual
This document provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of the Scheppach Compact 12T and 15T log splitters. It includes assembly instructions, safety precautions, maintenance schedules, and troubleshooting steps. Always read the full manual before operating the machine.
Device description
The log splitter features a splitting column, a riving knife, and a two-hand control system for safety. It is equipped with a trunk lifter for easier handling of heavy logs and a swivel table for different log lengths.
Assembly and setup
The machine is delivered partially assembled. Follow the instructions in the manual to mount the control arms, wheels, support wheel, hoop guards, chain hooks, and the trunk lifter. Ensure the machine is placed on a level, stable surface before operation.
Operation
The log splitter is designed for vertical operation only. Place the log on the base plate, hold it with the retaining claws, and operate the control levers with both hands. If a log is not split in one stroke, use the swivel table to perform a second stroke.
Safety
The machine must be operated by one person only. Wear appropriate protective equipment, including safety goggles, work gloves, hearing protection, and safety shoes. Keep a 5-meter safety radius around the machine. Never remove jammed logs by hand while the machine is running.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance is crucial for safety and performance. Clean the machine after each use, keep the splitting blade guides clean, and lubricate slide rails. Check the hydraulic oil level regularly and perform the first oil change after 50 operating hours, followed by every 500 hours.
Troubleshooting
If the hydraulic pump does not start, check the power supply or reset the motor's thermal switch. If the column does not move downwards, check the oil level, ensure levers are connected, or clean the rails. If the motor runs but the column does not move, check the motor's rotation direction.
