This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of the Scheppach Compact 12t and 15t log splitters. Always read the full manual before use.
Device Description
The log splitter features a riving knife, splitting column, control arms, swivel table, and a trunk lifter. Refer to the diagrams on pages 2-9 for component identification.

Assembly
The log splitter is not fully assembled for shipping. Follow these steps:

- Control arms: Grease the sliding plate and attach control arms to the cross-connection.
- Wheels: Mount wheels and secure with safety caps.
- Hoop guard: Attach to the holder.
- Support wheel: Mount the wheel holder and support wheel.
- Trunk lifter: Attach to the base plate and secure the chain.
Operation
The machine is designed for standing operation only. Ensure the machine is on a level, solid surface. Before each use, perform a functional check: press both handles down to move the riving knife, release one handle to stop, and release both to return the knife to the upper position.
Splitting
Place the wood on the base plate, hold it with the retaining claws, and push both operating levers down. If the wood is not split completely, release the levers, move the riving knife up, swivel in the table, and perform a second stroke.
Maintenance

- Cleaning: Clean the machine thoroughly after each use.
- Lubrication: Grease the splitter spar every 5 operating hours. Lubricate moving parts and slide rails.
- Oil: Check the oil level regularly. Perform the first oil change after 50 operating hours, then every 500 hours. Use recommended hydraulic oils like Aral Vitam gf 22 or equivalent.
Troubleshooting
If the hydraulic pump does not start, check the power supply or reset the thermal switch. If the column does not move down, check the oil level or lever connections. If the motor runs but the column does not move, check the motor rotation direction.
