Quick guide from the manual

Before using your Somogyi portable electric hot plate for the first time, ensure it is placed on a stable, horizontal surface with adequate clearance (25 cm on sides, 100 cm above). Clean the surface with a damp sponge and dish soap, then dry it. Perform an initial burn-in by setting the stage switch to the maximum level (5) for 10 minutes without any cookware. Always allow the unit to cool for at least 30 minutes before cleaning or storing.

Device Description

The hot plate consists of the following components:

  • Non-slip soles
  • Power cable

Installation

Minimum installation distances (Figure 2)
Minimum installation distances (Figure 2)
  1. Remove all packaging material carefully, ensuring no damage to the appliance or power cable.
  2. Clean the hot plate surface with a dish-soapy sponge, then a clean watery sponge, and wipe dry. Avoid getting water inside the unit or on electrical components.
  3. Place the appliance on a stable, horizontal surface.
  4. Maintain minimum installation distances: 25 cm on the sides and 100 cm above the unit.
  5. Connect to a standard grounded 230 V~ / 50 Hz wall outlet.
  6. Before first use, set the stage switch to the maximum level (5) and let it run for 10 minutes.
  7. Turn the switch to 0 to switch off the heater. The unit is now ready for use.

Operation

Set the stage switch to one of the selectable 1-5 stages. The red indicator light will illuminate while the plate heats up and will turn off once the set temperature is reached. Due to the iron core of the hot plates, the unit retains heat, allowing you to lower the thermostat setting during cooking to save energy. After use, always turn the switch to 0 and unplug the device.

Cleaning and Maintenance

  1. Switch off the heating by turning the stage switch to 0.
  2. Unplug the device from the mains outlet.
  3. Allow the appliance to cool down completely (at least 30 minutes).
  4. Clean the hot plate surface with a dish-soapy sponge, then a clean watery sponge, and wipe dry.
  5. Dust off the vents.
  6. Do not immerse the appliance in water or any liquid.
