This document provides essential instructions for the safe and efficient use of the Somogyi HG R 01WH (single plate) and HG R 02WH (double plate) portable electric hot plates. Before first use, ensure the device is undamaged, clean the surface, and perform the initial burn-in process. Safety instructions
- Indoor use only: Use only in dry, indoor environments. Do not use in bathrooms, near swimming pools, or saunas.
- Supervision: Operate only under constant supervision. Keep out of reach of children under 8 years old.
- Electrical safety: Connect only to a properly grounded 230 V~ / 50 Hz outlet. Do not use extension cords or power strips.
- Handling: Do not touch the appliance or cable with wet hands. Do not immerse in water.
- Placement: Place on a solid, horizontal surface. Maintain minimum clearance distances as shown in Figure 2.
- Prohibitions: Do not place food directly on the hot plate. Do not use glassware. Do not use with programmable timers or remote-controlled systems.
Installation
- Remove all packaging material carefully.
- Clean the hot plate surface with a damp sponge and mild detergent, then wipe dry. Ensure no water enters the electrical components.
- Place the device on a stable, horizontal surface, observing the minimum clearance distances.
- Connect to a standard grounded wall outlet.
- First-time use: Set the stage switch to the maximum (stage 5) and let it run for 10 minutes to burn off any manufacturing residues.
- Turn the switch to 0 to switch off. The device is now ready for use.
Operation
- Set the stage switch to the desired level (1-5).
- The indicator light will turn on while heating and turn off once the set temperature is reached.
- The iron core of the hot plates retains heat; you can lower the setting during cooking to save energy.
- After use, turn the switch to 0 and unplug the device.
Cleaning and maintenance
- Switch off and unplug the device.
- Allow the appliance to cool down for at least 30 minutes before cleaning.
- Clean the surface with a damp sponge and mild detergent, then wipe dry.
- Do not immerse the device in liquid.
- Keep ventilation openings free of dust.
Troubleshooting
- Hot plate not warm enough: Check the power supply and the stage switch settings.
- Hot plate discolored: This is normal and does not affect the operation of the device.
