- Reference Numbers Indicating Quantity (nX y): If a reference number indicates more than one part, it follows the format 'nX y', where 'n' is the quantity, 'X' is the multiplication symbol, and 'y' is the reference number. For example, '2X 37' means two of the parts identified by reference number 37.
