This manual provides essential instructions for the safe operation and maintenance of the Toro 22in Recycler Lawn Mower (Model 20337). Before starting, ensure you have read all safety warnings, filled the engine with the provided oil, and checked that all fasteners are tight. Always clear the lawn of debris before mowing and wear appropriate footwear.
Setup and Assembly
Installing the Handle: Remove handle knobs, move the handle to the operating position, and reinstall the knobs. Ensure cables are routed to the outside of the handle knobs.

Recoil-Starter Rope: Hold the blade-control bar to the upper handle and pull the recoil-starter rope through the rope guide on the handle.
Filling with Oil: The machine comes with a bottle of oil. Use SAE 30 detergent oil (API SF, SG, SH, SJ, SL or higher). Max fill is 0.55 L (18.6 oz). Check the level using the dipstick on a level surface.
Grass Bag: Slip the bag over the frame, hooking the bottom channel first, then the top and side channels.
Operation
Fueling: Use clean, fresh unleaded gasoline (87 octane or higher) with no more than 10% ethanol. Do not use gasoline containing methanol or E15/E85 blends.
Starting: Hold the blade-control bar against the handle, then pull the recoil-start handle until resistance is felt, then pull sharply.
Cutting Height: Adjust using the levers on the wheels. Settings range from 25 mm (1 inch) to 102 mm (4 inches). Ensure front and rear wheels are set to the same height.
Recycling vs. Bagging: Use the bag-on-demand lever to switch between recycling (mulching) and bagging. Ensure the discharge area is clear of debris before switching.
Maintenance
Schedule: Change engine oil after the first 5 hours, then yearly. Service the air cleaner yearly. Check oil level before each use.

Blade Replacement: If the blade is damaged or dull, replace it. Use a torque wrench to tighten the blade bolt to 82 N-m (60 ft-lb).
Cleaning: Use the washout port by attaching a garden hose, starting the engine, and running water until clippings are cleared.
Storage
Preparation: Run the engine until it stops from lack of fuel. Add fuel stabilizer to the last tank of the season. Remove the spark plug, add 30 ml of oil to the cylinder, and pull the starter rope slowly to distribute oil.
