Touratech 12MM GPS Adapter Mounting Instructions

This document provides instructions for the direct mounting of the Touratech GPS adapter onto 12mm struts. It is compatible with Garmin Zumo XT, Zumo 5xx, 276Cx, and TomTom Rider series. The installation requires following a specific sequence of steps to ensure safety and proper functionality.
Safety and installation requirements
- We recommend having the accessory parts fitted by a specialist workshop.
- Always follow the order of assembly steps provided in the diagrams.
- Check and if necessary tighten all bolted connections after 50 km.
- Apply conventional lubricant to stainless steel bolts prior to assembly.
- If modifications are made to the motorcycle (fairing, stem, handlebar, etc.), ensure that electrical wiring, brake lines, and cables are refitted correctly and maintain clearance with full steering lock.
- Always disconnect the battery when working on the electrical system.
Assembly
The assembly process involves attaching the adapter plate to the 12mm strut using the provided hardware. Refer to the numbered diagram for the correct sequence of components, including nuts, bolts, and spacers. Ensure all fasteners are tightened to the appropriate torque settings based on the bolt size and material (Steel 8.8 or Inox A2).
Torque specifications
Use the following torque values for standard bolts (strength class 8.8):
- M4: 2.7 Nm (Steel) / 0.8 Nm (Inox)
- M5: 5.5 Nm (Steel) / 1.7 Nm (Inox)
- M6: 9.7 Nm (Steel) / 3.0 Nm (Inox)
- M8: 23.0 Nm (Steel) / 7.9 Nm (Inox)
- M10: 47.0 Nm (Steel) / 14.0 Nm (Inox)
- M12: 80.0 Nm (Steel) / 24.0 Nm (Inox)
- M16: 196.0 Nm (Steel) / 59.0 Nm (Inox)
- M20: 385.0 Nm (Steel) / 114.0 Nm (Inox)

Common problems
Bolts loosening after installation
Check and if necessary tighten all bolted connections after the first 50 km of riding.
Interference with cables or steering
Ensure all electrical wiring, brake lines, and cables are refitted correctly and maintain clearance during full steering lock.
Before use
- Verify compatibility with your specific GPS device (Garmin Zumo XT, 5xx, 276Cx or TomTom Rider).
- Ensure the motorcycle strut diameter is 12mm.
- Apply lubricant to stainless steel bolts before assembly.
- Disconnect the motorcycle battery if any electrical work is performed.
- Have a torque wrench ready for proper bolt tightening.
