The Tridonic LC 21/500/42 fixC SR ADV2 is an independent LED driver designed for class II luminaires. It features a compact, flat housing with strain relief, making it suitable for constrained installation conditions like small ceiling cut-outs. The device includes built-in protection against overload, short-circuits, and no-load conditions.

Installation and wiring
Proper installation is critical for safety and performance. Ensure the following conditions are met:

- Wiring type: Use stranded wire with ferrules or solid wire.
- Cross-section: 0.75–1.5 mm² for mains wires; 0.2–1.5 mm² for secondary (LED) wires.
- Stripping: Strip 8.5–9.5 mm of insulation from cables.
- Terminals: Use push-in terminals; insert one wire per terminal connector only.
- Torque: Max torque for the clamping screw is 0.3 Nm. Max torque for device fixing is 0.5 Nm (M4).
- Wiring guidelines: Keep connections as short as possible. Mains leads should be kept 5–10 cm apart from the LED driver and other leads. Max output wire length is 2 m.
Functions and protection
The driver is equipped with several safety functions:
- Short-circuit behaviour: The driver switches off during a short circuit on the secondary side and restores operation automatically once the short is eliminated.
- Overload protection: If the maximum load is exceeded, the driver reduces the output current to protect itself. Nominal operation is restored automatically after the overload is removed.
- No-load operation: The driver uses burst working mode to provide constant output voltage regulation, allowing safe operation if the LED string opens due to failure.
Technical specifications

- Output current: 500 mA
- Output power range: 16.5 – 21 W
- Ambient temperature (ta): -25 to +40 °C
- IP rating: IP20
- Lifetime: Up to 50,000 hours

Common problems
Check for short circuits on the secondary side. The driver will automatically restore operation once the short is removed.
This indicates overload protection is active. Reduce the load to within the specified limits; the driver will restore nominal operation automatically.
Before use
- Verify the ambient temperature is between -25 °C and +40 °C.
- Ensure the luminaire is of protection class II.
- Use correct wire cross-sections: 0.75–1.5 mm² (input) and 0.2–1.5 mm² (output).
- Strip 8.5–9.5 mm of insulation from cables.
- Ensure the device is not fixed in a corner.
- Check that all connections are as short as possible.
