Quick guide from the manual

This document provides installation and maintenance instructions for Ximax designer radiators. Key requirements include installation by a qualified plumber, ensuring the wall is solid masonry for the supplied wall plugs, and maintaining a minimum 150 mm clearance from the floor for efficient ventilation. Always check the packaging for completeness before starting.

Scope of delivery

  • 1 pc. radiator
  • 1 pc. Air vent (A)
  • 1 pc. Blanking plug (B)
  • 4 pcs. Masonry wall plug (C)
  • 4 pcs. Screws (D)
  • 4 pcs. Washers (E)
  • 4 pcs. Wall bracket

Assembly instructions

Tools required: Phillips screwdriver, flat screwdriver, tape measure, wrench, drill bit, and drilling machine.

  1. Drill 4 holes with a depth of approx. 60 mm and a diameter of 8 mm using the dimensions for the main holes found in the assembly dimension table.
  2. Insert wall plugs (C) into the holes (only for solid walls).
  3. Attach the screw (D) and washer (E) to the bracket. Do not overtighten.
  4. Check for a baffle inside the horizontal tubes. If present, it must be at the bottom.
  5. Hang the radiator on the bracket.
  6. Mount the air valve (A) and blanking plug (B) in the upper threaded openings.
  7. Connect the flow and return using appropriate radiator valves (not included). Use PTFE tape or similar for watertight sealing.

Filling and venting

  1. Open the air vent.
  2. Slightly open the inlet valve (about 10%) while keeping the outlet valve closed.
  3. Allow the system to fill the radiator slowly.
  4. Once filled, close the air vent.
  5. Open both inlet and outlet valves fully and run the heating system for about 2 hours.
  6. Close both valves, open the air vent to release remaining air, then close the vent.

Care and use

After installation, ensure the system is thoroughly rinsed to flush out debris. Add a suitable inhibitor to the central heating system to prevent internal rust and limescale. Clean the radiator using a soft, damp cloth; do not use scouring pads or chemical cleaning agents.

Troubleshooting

If pipes are not warm, vent the radiator again. If tubes remain cold, the radiator may have been filled too quickly or requires draining and refilling. If the radiator provides patchy heat, it may be installed upside down; check the baffle orientation. For electric radiators, a small amount of water discharge upon first use is normal; if panels do not heat, the radiator may need to be topped up with water.

Practical help

Common problems

Radiator pipes are not warm

Check and vent the radiator again using the air vent.

Patchy heat or long heating time

The radiator may be installed upside down. Check the baffle orientation inside the tube.

Electric radiator not heating

The radiator may need to be topped up with water. Place on its side, undo the top side nut, and add water.

Before use

  • Check packaging contents for completeness.
  • Ensure you have the appropriate connection fittings.
  • Verify there are no hidden water, electric, or gas lines behind the wall.
  • Ensure the wall is solid masonry for the supplied wall plugs.
  • Prepare a clean, dry environment for assembly.
  • Ensure at least 150 mm distance between the floor and the bottom of the radiator.

Specs in practice

Max. Operating pressure
The maximum pressure the radiator can withstand; exceeding this voids the warranty.
Hub spacing (NA)
The distance between the connection points for the radiator.

  • Assembly diagrams: Illustrates different bracket positioning methods (between cross tubes, on manifold, fixed bracket, fixed pins).

Model compatibility

  • Supplied wall plugs are only suitable for solid masonry walls.
  • For other wall types, obtain the correct wall fixings.
