Important Notice Regarding i-STAT CG4+ Cartridge
Abbott Point of Care has announced the discontinuation of the i-STAT CG4+ cartridge (blue), list number 03P85-51. Shipment of this product will cease on June 30, 2026. Users may continue to use existing stock of the blue cartridge until the expiration date printed on the product label.
Transition to Alternative Cartridge
Facilities are advised to transition to the i-STAT CG4+ cartridge (white), list number 03P85-25. This alternative is compatible with the i-STAT 1 System and offers the same tests as the blue cartridge, with expanded capabilities.
Comparison of Cartridges
The white cartridge (03P85-25) provides several advantages over the discontinued blue cartridge (03P85-51):
- pH: Wider reportable range (6.500 to 7.800) and support for capillary samples and non-anticoagulated matrices.
- PCO2: Wider reportable range (5.0 to 130.0) and support for capillary samples and non-anticoagulated matrices.
- PO2: Wider reportable range (5 to 700) and support for capillary samples and non-anticoagulated matrices.
- Lactate: Reportable range remains unchanged.
Recommended Actions
When transitioning to the white cartridge, facilities should follow their established policies and procedures for validation testing. Ensure that all healthcare providers are informed of the change.
