This manual provides essential instructions for installing and connecting Adastra BH Series background speakers. Ensure you have all components before starting: 2 speakers, 2 steel brackets, 2 plastic wall plates, 4 screws, and 4 screw caps. Always verify your amplifier's impedance compatibility before connecting.
Product description
The Adastra BH series consists of durable cabinet speakers designed for music and announcements. The series includes models BH3, BH4, BH5, BH6, and BH8, each with varying power handling and driver sizes. These speakers are rated IP44, making them suitable for sheltered outdoor areas.

Installation

- Unscrew the plastic wall plate from the speaker bracket.
- Mark, drill, and fix the plastic wall plate to the wall.
- Align the steel speaker bracket against the wall plate at the desired tilt angle and secure it using the 2 provided screws through the punched holes.
- Place the speaker into the bracket and secure it using the screw caps on the top and bottom.
- Adjust the horizontal angle (pan) by loosening the screw caps, turning the speaker, and re-tightening.
Wiring
Each BH speaker has an 8Ω impedance. Ensure the total load connected to each amplifier channel is not lower than the minimum stated for your amplifier.
- Single speaker: Connect for an 8Ω load.
- Two speakers: Connect in parallel for a 4Ω load.
To connect, remove the cover on the rear of the speaker to reveal the spring terminals. Use high-quality 2-core speaker wire. Strip the insulation, press down the terminal, thread the wire through, and release to grip. If installing in sheltered outdoor areas, ensure the rear terminal cover is fitted to protect against moisture.
Technical specifications
The BH series offers a range of sizes and power ratings:
- Impedance: 8Ω
- Dispersion angle: 120°
- IP rating: IP44
- Power handling (RMS): Ranges from 30W (BH3/BH4) to 80W (BH8).
- Frequency response: Ranges from 110Hz-20kHz (BH3) down to 30Hz-20kHz (BH8).
Practical help
Common problems
Ensure the total impedance of connected speakers is not lower than the minimum load specified for your amplifier (e.g., 8Ω for one speaker, 4Ω for two in parallel).
If installing in sheltered outdoor areas, ensure the rear terminal cover is fitted to protect the wiring.
Before use
- Verify you have 2 speakers, 2 brackets, 2 wall plates, 4 screws, and 4 screw caps.
- Check your amplifier's minimum impedance rating.
- Use high-quality 2-core speaker wire.
- Ensure the mounting surface is suitable for the weight of the speaker.
Specs in practice
- Dispersion angle (120°)
- The width of the sound coverage area provided by the speaker.
