Quick guide from the manual
This document provides essential operating instructions for the Batavia 12V Compact Cordless Chain Saw (Model BT-NXS003). It covers safety, setup, operation, and maintenance. Always read the full manual and the enclosed general safety instructions for power tools before use.

Safety instructions
- Personal Protective Equipment: Always wear hearing protection, safety glasses, protective headgear, safety gloves, and sturdy shoes.
- Kickback Prevention: Kickback can occur if the guide bar tip touches an object or if the wood pinches the chain. Maintain a firm grip with both hands, do not overreach, and do not cut above shoulder height.
- Operation: Use only for cutting wood. Do not use for felling trees. Ensure the work area is clear of bystanders.
Battery and charging
- Charge the battery at ambient temperatures between 10 °C and 40 °C.
- Use only the provided charger.
- The battery has a built-in charge indicator (button 11).
- For long-term storage, store batteries in a high charge state, disconnected from the tool.
Mounting and tensioning the saw chain
- Remove the battery.
- Unscrew the head screw (4) to remove the sprocket cover (5).
- Place the saw chain around the guide bar, ensuring the correct running direction.
- Run the chain over the sprocket (22) and position the guide bar on the chain adjusting screw pin (21).
- Tighten the chain using the chain adjusting screw (15) until the gap between the center of the lower side of the guide bar and the chain is approximately 3–4 mm.
- Secure the sprocket cover (5) with the head screw (4).
Operation
- Switching ON/OFF: Press the safety switch (7), then press the ON/OFF switch (8). Release the ON/OFF switch to stop.
- Lubrication: Use only commercially available, biodegradable chain oils. Do not use engine or mineral oils.
- Break-in: New chains require a 5-minute idle run, followed by 30 minutes of light cutting. Re-check tension after this period.
Maintenance
- Remove the battery before any maintenance.
- Clean the sprocket area and ventilation slots regularly with a brush or compressed air.
- Keep the chain sharp; blunt chains increase the risk of kickback and motor damage.
