This manual provides instructions for the Bauer 20V Cordless Drill models 1791C-B1 and 1792C-B1. Before using the tool, ensure the battery is fully charged and the trigger is in the off position. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including eye and ear protection.
Safety Information
General Power Tool Safety: Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Do not operate in explosive atmospheres. Keep children and bystanders away. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting the battery pack.
Battery Safety: Keep the battery pack dry. Do not open, drop, short-circuit, puncture, incinerate, or expose to temperatures above 265°F. Charge only with the specified charger.
Vibration and Silicosis: Prolonged use of vibrating tools can cause injury. Use tools with the lowest vibration when possible. When drilling masonry, use NIOSH-approved respirators and safety goggles to prevent silicosis from silica dust.
Setup and Operation
Battery Charging: Charge the battery after unpacking and before using the tool. Follow the instructions included with the battery charger.
Bit Installation: Wear heavy-duty gloves. Rotate the chuck collar counterclockwise to open the jaws, insert the bit, and hand-tighten the chuck securely.
Mode Selection (1792C-B1 only): Rotate the mode selector to choose between Drilling (wood/metal), Driving (screws/bolts), or Hammer Drilling (masonry).
Torque Selection: Use settings 1-17 for driving screws and bolts. Use the drill icon setting for drilling.
General Use: Insert the battery until it clicks. Use the direction switch to select forward or reverse. Press the trigger to start; the work light will turn on automatically.
Maintenance
Cleaning: Wipe external surfaces with a clean cloth after use. Keep motor housing vents clear of dust.
Troubleshooting: If the tool will not start, check the battery connection and charge level. If the tool operates slowly or overheats, avoid forcing it and check for dull bits or blocked vents.
