Quick guide from the manual
The Behringer HELLBABE HB01 is an optical wah-wah pedal designed for both classic and modern sounds. It features a flexible Q control, adjustable heel-down frequency range, and a tunable boost function. The unit is activated by placing your foot on the pedal and moving it; it deactivates automatically when you remove your foot, with a user-adjustable timer for the release.
Signal Chain Placement
For optimal results, place the wah-wah pedal before time-based effects like reverb, flanger, chorus, and vibrato. Distortion and overdrive effects should also be placed before the wah-wah unit.
Controls
- PEDAL: Activates the effect when moved.
- RANGE: Adjusts the heel-down frequency range (e.g., 440 Hz to 250 Hz for bass).
- BOOST: Switch activates the boost function; the control knob adjusts the output boost level (max +15 dB).
- Q: Changes the filter peak shape. High Q (right) creates a narrow, selective peak; Low Q (left) creates a broad, subtle peak.
- FINE: Extends the toe-down frequency range up to 2.2 kHz.
- TIMER ADJ: Adjusts how long the effect remains active after removing your foot from the pedal.
- ROCKER SCREW: Adjusts the physical resistance of the pedal mechanism.
Connections and Power
- IN: 1/4" TS connector for your instrument. Inserting a jack here powers on the unit.
- OUT: 1/4" TS connector for your amplifier.
- OUT/BYPASS: 1/4" TS connector for a second output or a hard-wired bypass signal.
- 9V Power: Connection for an external 9V power supply (not included).
- Battery: The battery compartment is located on the bottom. Use a 9V type 6LR61 battery.
Safety and Maintenance
Do not use near water or heat sources. Do not attempt to service the unit yourself; contact qualified personnel for repairs. Always remove the input jack when not in use to preserve battery life.
