Quick guide from the manual

This sand filter is designed for above-ground pools. Before use, ensure the filter is placed on a flat, level surface at least 2 meters away from the pool. The power source must be at least 4 meters away. Always disconnect the power before performing any maintenance or changing the valve position. The system requires silica sand (0.45-0.85 mm) to function correctly.

Technical Specifications

Components overview
Components overview
  • Filter Diameter: 270 mm
  • Sand Capacity: Approx. 8.5 kg
  • Sand Type: Silica sand #20 (0.45-0.85 mm)
  • Max Operating Pressure: 0.42 Bar (6 PSI)
  • Max Water Temperature: 35°C

Assembly and Installation

1. Unpack all components and check for damage. 2. Place the filter on a flat surface. 3. Secure the filter vertically to the ground or a base using the mounting holes (8mm diameter). 4. Fill the tank with the required amount of sand. Ensure the skimmer is submerged in water before adding sand to prevent damage. 5. Connect the hoses to the pool and the filter according to the provided diagrams.

Control Valve Functions

The control valve allows you to select 6 different functions. Always turn off the pump before changing the valve position.

  • Filter: Standard filtration mode.
  • Closed: Stops water flow between the filter and the pool.
  • Backwash: Cleans the sand bed by reversing water flow.
  • Rinse: Used for initial startup and leveling the sand bed after backwashing.
  • Drain: Drains water from the pool without passing through the filter.
  • Circulate: Circulates pool water without filtration.

First Use and Operation

Before the first use, you must perform a backwash and rinse cycle to clean the sand. 1. Set the valve to Backwash and run the pump for 3-5 minutes until water runs clear. 2. Turn off the pump, set the valve to Rinse, and run for 1 minute. 3. Turn off the pump and set the valve to Filter. 4. Turn on the pump to begin normal filtration.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Monitor the pressure gauge regularly. When the pressure reaches 0.25 Bar (3.5 PSI) or higher, or if water flow is weak, the sand bed needs cleaning. Perform a backwash and rinse cycle as described in the first use section. Regularly inspect the filter for debris and clean the debris screen inside the filter housing.

Troubleshooting

If you experience issues such as sand entering the pool, check if the sand is too fine or if the sand level is too high. If there is no water flow, ensure the debris screens are clean and the valve is not in the closed position. If the pressure is too high, perform a backwash.

Storage and Winterization

In areas with freezing temperatures, the filter must be winterized to prevent damage. Backwash the sand bed, drain the pool, disconnect the hoses, remove all sand from the tank, dry all components, and store the filter in a dry, indoor location.

Practical help

Common problems

Sand entering the pool

Check if sand is too fine, sand level is too high, or if the skimmer is broken.

No water flow

Remove debris screens, release air from the system, ensure valve is not in 'Closed' position, or clean the filter.

Excessive filter pressure

Perform a backwash, check if sand is calcified, or replace the pressure gauge if faulty.

Valve leaking from port D

Ensure the valve is not set between two functions and check/replace the gasket.

Before use

  • Verify all components are present and undamaged.
  • Ensure the filter is on a flat, level surface.
  • Check that the power source is at least 4 meters from the pool.
  • Ensure the sand is silica #20 (0.45-0.85 mm).
  • Submerge the skimmer in water before adding sand.
  • Ensure suction openings are not obstructed.

Specs in practice

Max Pressure
0.42 Bar (6 PSI). If exceeded, backwash is required.
Sand Capacity
Approximately 8.5 kg of silica sand.
Filter Diameter
270 mm.

Images and diagrams

  • The control valve has 6 positions: Filter, Closed, Backwash, Rinse, Drain, and Circulate.
  • The pressure gauge helps monitor when the filter needs cleaning (above 0.25 Bar).

Model compatibility

  • Only for use with above-ground pools.
  • Do not use with permanently installed pools.
