Device Description
The tool is designed for driving and loosening screws, as well as drilling in wood, metal, ceramics, and plastic. The GSB model is additionally designed for impact drilling in brick, masonry, and stone. It features a worklight for the immediate work area and supports Bluetooth connectivity with the optional GCY 30-4 module.
Assembly
Battery: The battery is supplied partially charged. Charge it fully before first use. To remove, press the unlocking button and pull the battery forward.
Auxiliary Handle: Always use the auxiliary handle. To mount, turn the bottom part counterclockwise, pull back the intermediate piece, slide the handle over the drill chuck, and tighten by turning clockwise.
Drilling Depth: Loosen the wing bolt on the depth stop, insert it into the auxiliary handle, adjust to the desired depth, and retighten the wing bolt.
Operation
Direction of Rotation: Use the rotational direction switch to change the direction. Do not operate while the On/Off switch is pressed.
Operating Modes: Use the mode selector switch to choose between Drilling, Screwdriving, and Impact Drilling (GSB model only).
Speed and Torque: Speed is variably adjusted by the pressure on the On/Off switch. Torque can be preselected in 25 steps for screwdriving mode.
Gear Selection: Use the mechanical gear selector only when the tool is at a standstill. Gear 1 is for large drilling diameters; Gear 2 is for small diameters.
Safety and Maintenance
Overload Protection: The tool features temperature-dependent overload protection. If the tool overheats, the LED indicator will light up red. Reduce load or run at no-load until the LED turns off.
Rapid Shut-off: Provides better control by shutting off the tool in case of sudden, unexpected rotation around the drill axis. Indicated by a flashing LED.
Maintenance: Keep the tool and ventilation slots clean. If the battery fails, contact an authorized Bosch service center.

Common problems
Tool shuts off automatically
The tool may be overloaded or outside the permitted temperature range. Reduce load or allow the tool to cool down until the red LED indicator turns off.
Rapid shut-off triggered
The tool rotated unexpectedly around the drill axis. Release the On/Off switch and press it again to restart.
Battery does not hold charge
If the battery is no longer functional, contact an authorized Bosch service center.
Before use
- Ensure the battery is fully charged.
- Check that the rotational direction switch is in the correct position.
- Ensure the auxiliary handle is firmly tightened.
- Verify the correct operating mode is selected.
- Check that the drill bit or screwdriver bit is securely inserted in the chuck.
