This document provides essential instructions for the safe and efficient operation of the Bosch GKE 18V-15 and GKE 18V-20 battery-powered pruner saws. These tools are designed for sawing wood such as branches, planks, and wooden beams at ground level. They are not intended for felling trees or cutting non-wood materials.

Assembly and Chain Tensioning

The pruner saw is delivered without oil. Before initial use, the oil reservoir must be filled. Assembly requires no tools:

1. Place the pruner saw on a flat surface.
2. Ensure the tensioning wheel (2) is turned fully anticlockwise.
3. Place the saw chain (12) into the gap of the chain bar (13), ensuring the correct running direction.
4. Place the chain bar (13) on the fastening bolt (17) and loop the chain around the drive sprocket (20).
5. Attach the SDS cover (10) and secure it partially with the clamping knob (11).
6. Turn the tensioning wheel (2) clockwise until the chain is correctly tensioned (it should be possible to lift it by 2–3 mm).
7. Tighten the clamping knob (11) firmly and fold down the bracket.

Saw Chain Lubrication

Regularly check that the chain is properly lubricated. If the reservoir is full but no oil is visible on a test surface, refer to the troubleshooting section. Use only Bosch-approved chain oil.

Operation

To operate the tool, hold it with both hands: one on the rear handle (5) and one on the auxiliary handle (3). Press the lock-off button (4) followed by the On/Off switch (8). Release the lock-off button once the chain starts moving. To stop, release the On/Off switch.

Safety and Maintenance

Always remove the battery before performing any maintenance, transport, or storage. Regularly check for loose or damaged components. Keep the tool and ventilation slots clean. Do not modify the product. Store in a safe, dry place out of reach of children.

Troubleshooting

If the tool does not operate correctly, ensure the battery is charged and correctly inserted. If the chain is not moving, check for clogs under the SDS cover or lack of oil. For persistent issues, contact an authorized Bosch Service Centre.
