Quick guide from the manual

This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of the Bosch GKS 18V-70 L Professional cordless circular saw. Always remove the battery before performing any maintenance, changing accessories, or transporting the tool to prevent accidental activation.

Device Description

The GKS 18V-70 L is a cordless circular saw designed for straight and miter cuts in wood. Key components include the lock-off switch, on/off switch, chip ejector, cutting depth scale, protective guard, base plate, and spindle lock button.

Assembly

Battery Charging: Use only the chargers listed in the technical data. The battery is supplied partially charged; charge it fully before first use.

Changing the Saw Blade: Always remove the battery first. Place the tool on the front side of the motor housing. Press and hold the spindle lock button (11) only when the saw spindle is stationary. Use the hex key (27) to loosen the clamping bolt (26), swing back the retracting blade guard (9), and remove the clamping flange (25) and blade (24). Reverse the steps to install a new blade, ensuring the cutting direction of the teeth matches the arrow on the guard.

Operation

Setting Cutting Depth: Loosen the clamping lever (19). Adjust the depth using the scale, then retighten the lever. The blade should protrude less than one full tooth height below the workpiece.

Adjusting Miter Angle: Loosen the adjusting lever (17), tilt the saw to the desired angle on the scale (14), and retighten the lever.

Dust Extraction: Connect a dust extractor or the dust/chip box (29) to the chip ejector (4). The ejector can be rotated freely.

Safety

Always wear personal protective equipment, including eye protection and a dust mask. Keep hands away from the cutting area and the blade. Never reach underneath the workpiece. Support large panels to minimize the risk of blade pinching and kickback.

Maintenance

Keep the tool and ventilation slots clean. The retracting blade guard must always move freely and close automatically. Clean the area around the guard regularly with a brush. Clean saw blades immediately after use to remove resin or glue residue.
