Quick guide from the manual

The Bosch UniversalCut 18V-65 is a cordless all-purpose saw designed for domestic use, specifically for cutting branches, slats, hardwood, softwood, and plastic. It is suitable for straight cuts.

Assembly

Always remove the battery before performing any work on the tool (e.g., maintenance, changing the blade, transport, or storage) to prevent accidental activation.

Inserting/changing the saw blade

  • Wear protective gloves when fitting or changing the saw blade, as it can be sharp and become hot during use.
  • Open the cover (9) of the saw blade receptacle using the locking lever (10).
  • Insert the saw blade, ensuring the drive shaft and the end of the blade fit into the recess on the saw blade receptacle (13).
  • Close the cover and lock it with the locking lever until it clicks into place.
  • The chain is tensioned automatically.

Operation

Switching on/off

To switch on, press the lock-off button (4) to the left or right, then press and hold the on/off switch (5). Once running, the lock-off button can be released. To switch off, release the on/off switch (5).

Controlling sawing speed

The sawing speed is continuously variable depending on how hard the on/off switch (5) is pressed. It is recommended to reduce speed when placing the blade on the workpiece.

Working Advice

  • Switch off immediately if the saw blade becomes blocked.
  • Use a sturdy support for small or thin workpieces.
  • Cut from front to back or top to bottom.
  • Use a gentle rocking motion to increase cutting speed.
  • The riving knife (3) prevents sawing against the running direction of the chain.
  • Always use the transport protection (12) on the blade (1) after finishing work.

Maintenance and Cleaning

  • Keep the tool and ventilation slots clean for safe operation.
  • Clean the saw blade and receptacle only when dry. Use a fine brush to remove ingrained dirt.
  • The saw blade is maintenance-free; the chain does not need to be oiled.
  • Regularly clean the saw blade receptacle (13) by removing the blade and tapping the tool on a flat surface.
