Quick guide from the manual

The Bosch GOF 2000 CE Professional is a high-performance plunge router designed for routing grooves, edges, profiles, and elongated holes in wood, plastic, and light building materials. Before use, ensure the mains voltage matches the tool's nameplate. Always wear eye protection and use dust extraction where possible. The tool features constant electronic control for uniform performance under load.

Assembly

Inserting a Router Bit:

  • Disconnect the mains plug before performing any work on the machine.
  • Wear protective gloves when handling router bits.
  • Press and hold the spindle lock button (9). If necessary, turn the spindle by hand until it engages.
  • Loosen the tightening nut (11) using the 24 mm open-end spanner (21) by turning it anticlockwise.
  • Insert the router bit into the collet, ensuring the shank is immersed at least 20 mm.
  • Tighten the nut clockwise and release the spindle lock button.

Operation

Starting Operation:

  • Preselect the speed using the thumbwheel (17). Settings 1-2 are for low speed, 3-4 for medium, and 5-6 for high speed.
  • To start, press and hold the On/Off switch (19). To lock it, press the lock-on button (18).
  • To switch off, release the On/Off switch (or press and release if locked).

Adjusting the Depth-of-cut

The adjustment must be performed only when the router is switched off.

  • Place the machine on the workpiece.
  • Set the fine adjustment scale (2) to 0.
  • Set the step buffer (8) to the lowest position.
  • Loosen the clamping lever (5) and lower the router until the bit touches the workpiece. Lock the plunge depth using the release lever (16).
  • Set the coarse adjustment scale (6) to 0.
  • Adjust the required depth using the adjustment knob (7) and lock the clamping lever (5).
  • For precise adjustments, use the adjustment knob (1) after a trial cut.

Working Advice

Direction of Feed: Always route against the rotation direction of the router bit (up-cutting motion). Routing in the direction of rotation (down-cutting) can cause the machine to break loose and lead to loss of control.

Using Guides: The router supports various accessories, including a parallel guide (26), router compass (33), guide rail (40), and guide bushing (44) for template routing. Ensure the guide bushing adapter (41) is installed before using guide bushings.

Maintenance and Service

  • Always pull the mains plug before maintenance.
  • Keep the machine and ventilation slots clean for safe operation.
  • In extreme conditions (e.g., working with metal), use a stationary extraction system and install a residual current device (RCD).
  • If the machine fails, contact an authorized Bosch after-sales service center.

Practical help

Common problems

Router bit vibrates or rotates irregularly

Ensure the router bit fits exactly in the collet and is tightened properly. Check that the bit is not blunt or damaged.

Machine kicks back during operation

Ensure you are feeding the machine against the rotation direction of the router bit. Never feed in the direction of rotation.

Router bit does not fit through the base plate

Do not insert a router bit with a diameter larger than 50 mm when the guide bushing is not mounted.

Before use

  • Verify the mains voltage matches the tool's nameplate.
  • Ensure the router bit is clean, sharp, and in perfect condition.
  • Check that the workpiece is securely clamped.
  • Ensure the switch is in the off position before connecting to power.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including eye protection.
