Quick guide from the manual

This manual provides instructions for the Bosch POF 1200 AE and POF 1400 ACE routers. These tools are designed for routing grooves, edges, profiles, and elongated holes in wood, plastic, and light building materials. Always ensure the workpiece is securely clamped and the router bit is clean and undamaged before operation.

Product Overview

The router features include a spindle lock button, depth stop, parallel guide, and speed preselection thumbwheel. The POF 1400 ACE model additionally features Constant Electronic control and a work light.

  • Wear protective gloves.
  • Press and hold the spindle lock button.
  • Loosen the cap nut with the open-ended spanner (19 mm).
  • Insert the router bit at least 20 mm into the collet.
  • Tighten the cap nut securely.

Dust Extraction: Attach the dust extraction adapter to the base plate using the two knurled screws. Connect an extraction hose (35 mm diameter) to the adapter and a suitable vacuum cleaner.

Operation

Switching On/Off: First, press the lock-off button, then press and hold the on/off switch. The switch cannot be locked for safety reasons.

Setting the routing depth:

  1. Place the router on the workpiece.
  2. Set the step buffer to the lowest step.
  3. Loosen the wing bolt on the depth stop.
  4. Lower the router until the bit touches the workpiece surface.
  5. Press the depth stop down until it rests on the step buffer and set the index mark to 0.
  6. Adjust the depth stop to the desired depth and tighten the wing bolt.

Working Advice

Routing Direction: Always route against the direction of the router bit's rotation (up-cut). Routing in the same direction (down-cut) can cause the tool to be pulled out of your hands.

Routing Techniques: The manual covers routing with an auxiliary guide, edge/profile routing, parallel guide routing, curve routing, compass routing, guide rail routing, and guide bushing routing.

Maintenance

Keep the tool and ventilation slots clean for safe operation. In extreme conditions, use a dust extractor and clean the slots frequently with a brush. If the power cord needs replacement, it must be done by an authorized Bosch service center.
