This manual provides essential instructions for the Bosch GSR 18V-21 and GSB 18V-21 cordless drill drivers. It covers safety, assembly, operation, and maintenance. Always remove the battery before performing any maintenance, tool changes, or transport to prevent accidental activation.
Device Description
The tools are designed for driving and loosening screws and for drilling in wood, metal, ceramic, and plastic. The GSB model is additionally designed for impact drilling in brick, masonry, and stone.

Assembly

- Battery Charging: Use only the chargers listed in the technical data. The battery is supplied partially charged; charge it fully before first use.
- Battery Removal: Press the release button and pull the battery out of the tool. Do not use force.
- Tool Change: Open the keyless chuck by turning it in the direction of rotation 1, insert the tool, and tighten the chuck sleeve firmly by hand in the direction of rotation 2.
Operation
- Inserting the Battery: Set the rotational direction switch to the middle position to prevent accidental starting. Insert the charged battery into the handle until it engages.
- Rotational Direction: Use the rotational direction switch to change the direction. Right rotation for drilling and driving screws; left rotation for loosening screws and nuts.
- Operating Mode: Set the torque presetting ring (GSR) or operating mode presetting ring (GSB) to the desired symbol (Drilling, Screwdriving, or Impact Drilling).
- Speed Adjustment: Control the speed by varying the pressure on the on/off switch.
- Mechanical Gear Selection: Use the gear selector switch to choose between low speed (1st gear) for large drilling diameters or screwdriving, and high speed (2nd gear) for small drilling diameters.
Maintenance and Cleaning
- General: Keep the tool and ventilation slots clean for safe operation.
- Carbon Brushes: Check the length of the carbon brushes every 2–3 months and replace both if necessary. Use only original Bosch carbon brushes.
