This manual provides essential instructions for the safe operation and maintenance of the Craftsman 19-inch Rechargeable Rotary Mower (Model 247.370480). Before first use, the battery must be charged for at least 14 hours. Always wear safety glasses, keep children and bystanders at least 75 feet away, and never operate the mower in the rain or on wet grass.
Assembly
The mower is packaged with the handle and grass catcher loose. To assemble:

- Handle: Remove packing material, loosen hand knobs, pivot the upper handle into the operating position, and secure the lower handle to the brackets using the star knobs.
- Grass Catcher: Lift the rear discharge door and remove the mulching baffle. Place the grass catcher on the pivot rod.
- Side Discharge: To convert, ensure the grass catcher is removed, replace the rear mulching baffle, and attach the side discharge chute under the hinge pin on the mulching plug assembly.
Operation
The mower features a motor/blade control handle that acts as a safety device. To start, insert the key, depress the starter button, and pull the control handle up against the upper handle. Releasing the handle stops the motor and blade. The cutting height can be adjusted using the lever located above the rear left wheel.

Charging and Battery Care
Always charge the mower indoors in a dry area. Use only the provided battery charger (Part number 725-04387). Plug the charger into the mower first, then into a standard 110/120V outlet. A full 14-hour charge is recommended. During storage, charge the mower once every two months.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance is required for safe operation:
- Lubrication: Lubricate wheels and the rear discharge door/side mulch plug pivot points at least once a season with light oil.
- Deck Care: Clean the underside of the deck after each use to prevent rust. Do not use water.
- Blade Care: Periodically inspect the blade for damage. If sharpening is needed, remove equal amounts of metal from both ends to maintain balance. Torque the blade bolt to 170-220 in. lbs.
- Circuit Breaker: If the mower stops due to overload, the circuit breaker reset button may pop out. Wait at least one minute before pressing it back in to reset.
