The CRAFTSMAN CMCS340 is a 20V Max* cordless reciprocating saw designed for professional sawing applications. Before first use, ensure the battery pack is fully charged. Always remove the battery pack before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing the tool to prevent accidental startup.
Product Overview
The tool features a variable speed trigger, a blade clamp for tool-free blade changes, a pivoting shoe for stability, and a built-in worklight. The main handle and hand grip provide secure control during operation.

Operation

Installing and Removing the Battery Pack
To install, align the battery pack with the rails inside the tool's handle and slide it in until firmly seated. To remove, press the battery release button and pull the pack out.
Blade Installation and Removal
Rotate the blade clamp collar to its full open position. Insert the blade fully into the clamp. Release the collar and tug on the blade to ensure it is securely clamped. To remove, rotate the collar to the open position and remove the blade.
Variable Speed Trigger and Lock Button
The tool is equipped with a lock button to prevent accidental starting. Always engage the lock button when carrying or storing the tool. The trigger is variable speed; the further it is depressed, the higher the speed.
Cutting Instructions
- General Cutting: Ensure the workpiece is firmly anchored. Place the pivoting shoe against the material and allow the motor to reach maximum speed before applying pressure.
- Wood Cutting: Use sharp blades and ensure the pivoting shoe remains against the workpiece to minimize vibration.
- Metal Cutting: Use a finer blade for ferrous metals and a coarser blade for non-ferrous materials. Clamp wood to the underside of thin sheet metal for a cleaner cut.
- Pocket Cutting: Mark the area, tip the saw back on the pivoting shoe, start the motor, and slowly swing the saw into the material.
Maintenance
Regularly blow dirt and dust out of all air vents with clean, dry air at least once a week. Never use solvents or harsh chemicals to clean non-metallic parts; use a cloth dampened with water and mild soap. The charger and battery pack are not serviceable.
VersaTrack™ and Accessories
The tool can be stored on the CRAFTSMAN VersaTrack™ Trackwall system using the provided hang hook. Ensure the screw holding the hook is securely tightened. Only use CRAFTSMAN-recommended accessories.
