The DeWALT DCPS620 is a 20V Max* pole saw designed for pruning tree branches up to 8 inches (203 mm) in diameter. Always read the full safety instructions before use. Ensure the battery is fully charged, the chain is properly tensioned, and the oil reservoir is filled before starting. Always wear appropriate safety gear, including a hard hat, eye protection, and heavy-duty gloves.
Components
The pole saw consists of several key parts, including the handle assembly, center extension pole, saw head assembly, trigger switch, lock button, battery, guide bar, saw chain, and oil cap. Refer to the diagram on page 3 for a full identification of all parts.

Assembly and Adjustments
Joining Modules: The pole saw is modular. To join the handle assembly to the saw head assembly, align the groove on the handle coupling with the tongue on the saw head coupling. Push the sections together and tighten the threaded sleeve until no red threads are visible.

Installing/Removing Saw Chain: Ensure the battery is removed. Loosen the hex head screws to remove the sprocket cover and bar clamp. Use the flat end of the hex wrench to rotate the chain tension screw counterclockwise to release tension. Replace the chain, ensuring the teeth face the correct direction, and reassemble.
Adjusting Chain Tension: The tension is correct when the chain snaps back after being pulled 1/8 inch (3 mm) away from the guide bar with light force. There should be no sag on the underside of the guide bar.
Operation
Battery Installation: Align the battery with the rails in the tool handle and slide it in until firmly seated.

Proper Hand Position: Always use two hands. Place one hand on the main handle and the other on the foam gripper. Keep fingers away from the sawdust exhaust chute.
Pruning: Ensure the saw is running at full speed before making contact with a limb. Use light pressure. For thick branches, perform a shallow undercut (1/3 through the limb) from the bottom before making the final cut from the top to prevent splintering or pinching.
Maintenance
Cleaning: Blow dirt and dust out of all air vents with clean, dry air at least once a week. Do not use solvents.
Oiling: The saw features an auto-oiling system. Check the oil level indicator regularly and refill with high-quality bar and chain oil if the level is low.
Chain Sharpening: Keep the chain sharp for best performance. If the chain touches the ground, stones, or nails, it will dull immediately. Sharpening services are available at DeWALT service centers.
Troubleshooting
If the unit fails to start, check the battery installation, charge, lock button, and pole connections. If the chain is loose or the cut quality is poor, adjust the chain tension. If the bar or chain overheats, check the lubrication and tension.
