This manual provides essential safety, operation, and maintenance instructions for the DEWALT 12V MAX Lithium-Ion Battery series (DCB124 and DCB126). Always ensure the battery is used with compatible XTREME 12V MAX tools and chargers.

Safety Rules

• Work Area: Keep the area clean, well-lit, and free of flammable materials to prevent sparks and accidents.
• Battery Handling: Never modify the battery pack or force it into non-compatible chargers.
• Environmental: Do not expose the battery to rain, water, or temperatures exceeding 105°F (40°C).
• Physical Integrity: Do not crush, drop, or damage the battery. If damaged, recycle at a DEWALT service center.
• Short-Circuit Prevention: Keep away from metal objects like keys, coins, or nails.
• Personal Protection: Use insulated gripping surfaces when working near hidden wiring and wear appropriate eye/respiratory protection for dusty operations.

Specifications

The manual covers two battery models with the following specifications:

• DCB124: 3Ah capacity, 60-minute charge time, 0.57 lbs weight.
• DCB126: 5Ah capacity, 90-minute charge time, 1.97 lbs weight.
• Common Features: 12V MAX voltage, 3-LED fuel gauge, compatible with XTREME 12V MAX tools and chargers.

Charging Procedure

1. Verify the charger is compatible (see list below).
2. Insert the battery pack into the charger until it clicks into place.
3. Monitor the LED fuel gauge: Green means fully charged, Flashing Green indicates charging in progress, and Red indicates a charging error.
4. Disconnect the battery once fully charged to optimize lifespan.

LED Fuel Gauge Usage

Press the fuel gauge button to check the charge level:

• 3 LEDs lit: 75-100% charge.
• 2 LEDs lit: 50-74% charge.
• 1 LED lit: 25-49% charge.
• 1 LED flashing: ≤24% charge (recharge immediately).

Maintenance & Storage

• Regular Maintenance: Clean terminals with a slightly damp cloth (no solvents) and inspect for damage before each use.
• Storage: Store in a cool, dry location (40-77°F / 4-25°C).
• Long-Term Storage (≥6 Months): Fully charge the battery before storage, disconnect from tools/chargers, and recharge every 6 months to prevent deep discharge.
