This document provides installation instructions for the Dometic RMD10.5XS absorption refrigerator. Proper installation is critical for safety and performance. The refrigerator is designed for installation in caravans and motorhomes. Ensure the vehicle is parked horizontally (maximum 3° angle) during installation to allow proper refrigerant circulation.
Installation Preparation
The refrigerator must be installed in a recess that ensures it remains secure while the vehicle is in motion. Ensure the unit is easily accessible for service work and removal. The distance between the refrigerator and the rear wall must be between 10 mm and 25 mm. A distance greater than 25 mm can lead to poor performance and increased power consumption.

Ventilation Requirements
Proper ventilation is essential for the refrigerator to function correctly. The outer wall must be fitted with one air inlet ventilation grille and one air outlet ventilation grille. The upper air outlet vent must be installed with the bottom of the vent no lower than the top of the refrigerator cabinet. If the lower ventilation grille cannot be installed flush with the floor, a gas escape hole (minimum 40 mm diameter) must be provided in the floor near the gas burner.

Installation Steps

- Sealing: Apply the sealing strip to the front of the bottom surface of the refrigerator before pushing it into position to seal the space behind the unit.
- Ventilation Grills: Install the installation frame, seal it to be waterproof, and insert the ventilation grill.
- Roof Vent: If the minimum distance between air inlet and outlet vents cannot be met, install a roof vent directly above the back of the refrigerator.
- Flue Duct: Install the flue duct through the external wall, ensuring it is directed at a 45° angle towards the rear wall. Fill the opening with fire-resistant material like stone wool.
- Securing: Fasten the refrigerator into the recess using the six screws provided through the plastic bushes in the sides of the unit.
Connecting the Refrigerator
Gas Connection: The refrigerator must be connected to the gas supply by a specialist in accordance with applicable guidelines (e.g., AS/NZS 5601.2). Use flexible gas piping and a metal-sealed screw connection. The gas pressure must be 2.75 kPa.

Electrical Connection: The device can be connected to 12 V DC and 230–240 V AC power supply. Electrical installation must comply with national regulations (e.g., AS/NZS 3001). The supply line to the heating element must be protected with a 20 A fuse, and the electronics with a 2 A fuse. Do not join positive and negative wires of the DC connections for heating and controls.
Technical Data
The RMD10.5XS has a total gross volume of 173 liters (140 L fridge, 33 L freezer). It operates on 230–240 V AC or 12 V DC. Gas consumption is approximately 586 g/24 h. The unit weighs 52.5 kg.
