Quick Guide

This manual provides instructions for the Draper 12/24V Diesel Transfer Pump (Stock No: 22108). This device is designed exclusively for transferring diesel fluid. It is not suitable for petrol, explosive, corrosive, or flammable liquids. The pump features a duty cycle of 30 minutes on and 30 minutes off. Always ensure the pump is connected to a power supply matching the rated voltage (12V or 24V) and that the battery source is 40Ah or larger.

Product Overview

The pump unit includes a carry handle, on/off switch, pump motor, and battery connectors. The kit comes with an inlet hose (2m) with a pickup filter and an outlet hose (4m) with a nozzle assembly. Ensure all parts are present and undamaged before assembly.

Preparation and Assembly

Follow these steps to prepare the pump:

Inlet hose assembly steps
Inlet hose assembly steps
  1. Inlet Hose: Ensure both ends of the inlet hose are clean and fitted with O-ring seals. Attach one end to the pump inlet (marked IN) and the other to the pickup filter. Secure both ends with hose clamps.
  2. Outlet Hose: Attach one end of the outlet hose to the pump outlet (marked OUT) and the other to the nozzle assembly.
  3. Power Connection: Ensure the on/off switch is in the "off" position. Connect the negative (black) battery connector to the negative terminal, then the positive (red) connector to the positive terminal.

Operating Instructions

To operate the pump:

  • Place the pump on a firm, level surface with the pickup filter fully submerged in the source tank.
  • The pump is self-priming; this may take up to one minute.
  • Push the on/off switch to the "on" position.
  • Insert the nozzle into the recipient tank and squeeze the trigger to begin pumping.
  • The nozzle has two speeds; the trigger can be locked using the trigger lock button.
  • Once the tank is full, release the trigger and switch off the pump immediately.

Caution: Do not allow the pump to operate in bypass mode for more than two minutes.

Maintenance

Fuse replacement
Fuse replacement
  • General: Keep the pump body clean and dry. Use a dry cloth only. Disconnect and drain hoses before storage.
  • Internal Filter: Periodically clean the filter by unscrewing the filter access plate, removing the filter, and cleaning it with compressed air only. Do not use solvents.
  • Fuse Replacement: The pump uses a 30A standard blade fuse. Unscrew the fuse access cover, remove the old fuse, and insert a new 30A blade fuse.

Troubleshooting

If the motor does not operate, check battery connections and the fuse. If the pump will not prime, ensure the filter is submerged and check for air leaks in the hoses. If the flow rate is reduced, check for clogs in the filter or air in the inlet hose.

Safety and Disposal

Always wear eye protection and oil-resistant gloves. Never smoke near the pump. Do not dispose of the product with domestic waste; follow local regulations for disposal of electrical equipment and diesel-contaminated materials.

Practical help

Common problems

Motor does not operate

Check battery connections, ensure battery is charged, and check if the 30A fuse has blown.

Pump will not prime

Ensure pickup filter is fully submerged, check for air leaks in the inlet hose, and ensure the pump is not positioned too high above the source tank.

Flow rate is significantly reduced

Clean the internal filter, check for air in the inlet hose, or refill the source tank.

Pump is unusually noisy

Check for air in the hoses and ensure the pickup filter is fully submerged.

Before use

  • Inspect the pump for missing, broken, or corroded parts.
  • Ensure the power supply matches the rated voltage (12V or 24V).
  • Verify the battery power source is 40Ah or larger.
  • Ensure the work area is well-ventilated.
  • Wear suitable eye protection and oil-resistant gloves.
  • Confirm the fluid to be transferred is diesel only.
