The Etac Alto is designed for re-use. Regular maintenance, inspection, and cleaning are essential for safety and longevity. Always use original Etac spare parts for replacements. Note that the service life of the device is limited; this is particularly important when instructing users who are expected to use the product for an extended period.
Maintenance
Regularly check for malfunctions, mechanical wear, and cracks. Perform the following checks:

Castors
- Ensure castor screws are properly tightened.
- Verify the locking function works; castors should not roll when locked.
- Ensure castors rotate freely.
Actuator, control box, and hand control
- Inspect cables and connections for damage.
- Check covers and actuator fixing points.
- Test hand control functionality by moving the seat to its end positions.
- Test the emergency lowering button.
Electrical system

- Do not detach cables unless necessary.
- If cables are disconnected, O-rings must be replaced. Lubricate O-rings and sockets with acid-free Vaseline.
- Connect electrical components according to the wiring diagram.
- Plug the mains cable into the wall socket for charging.
- Perform calibration/reset as described in the troubleshooting section of the full user manual.
Lithium-ion battery
Charge the batteries at least every 12 months.
Cleaning and disinfection
Cleaning must be carried out regularly. It may be necessary to clean the device between users to avoid infection.
- Clean the device using a standard non-abrasive cleaning agent (pH between 5 and 9). Rinse and dry.
- Disinfect the device with a 70% disinfectant solution. Allow to air dry.
Cleaning in a clinical environment
- Clean the device and its accessories in a washing machine or washing tunnel (unless otherwise specified) in accordance with EN/ISO 60601-2-52.
- The device must be secured and positioned upright with the wheels locked.
- Cables must be connected to prevent water ingress.
- To maintain cable flexibility, position the cable so its own weight does not load the spiraling.
- To ensure the pre-lubricated inner tube remains lubricated, the actuator may only be washed when the piston rod is fully retracted.
- When washing the soft back, ensure velcro straps are fastened together.
Miscellaneous
There is a 5-year warranty against material and manufacturing defects (1-year warranty for the battery). For terms and conditions, visit www.etac.com. White touch-up paint (RAL 9003, Art. no. 84005052) is available from Etac for minor chips.
