Important Information from the Manual

The FBT VERTUS CLA 203T and 204T are point source loudspeakers designed for professional audio applications. The VERTUS CLA 203T is IP55 certified, making it suitable for outdoor installations, while the VERTUS CLA 204T is IP21C certified and intended for indoor use only. Both models require an external DSP processor with official FBT presets to ensure sound balance and transducer reliability.

Safety Precautions

  • Never install or connect the loudspeakers when the line is live, as voltages can reach 100V.
  • Ensure the mounting surface can support the combined weight of the speaker and bracket.
  • Use only original FBT suspension accessories.
  • Do not route loudspeaker lines alongside mains or low-level signal cables to avoid inductive interference.
  • Always use a secondary safety system for suspended installations.

Installation

The loudspeakers can be mounted using the optional WM-23 directional wall mount.

WM-23 Installation

  1. Use the provided cardboard template to mark the four fixing points on the wall.
  2. Fix the wall part of the bracket using M5 screws.
  3. Attach the speaker part of the bracket to the loudspeaker.
  4. Hook the speaker system onto the wall bracket and tighten the joint screw.
  5. Use the M4 x 10 screws provided to attach the safety cable.

Angle Adjustment: Loosen the rotation lock screw (A) to set the desired angle (0° to 45°), then retighten. Loosen the joint screw (B) to adjust the horizontal angle, then retighten.

Connections

Audio connections are made via the ceramic terminal block located inside the protective enclosure (A). The terminals marked '+' and '-' allow for parallel connection of multiple speakers.

Controls and functions
  • Constant Voltage (70/100V): Select the desired power setting on the selector.
  • Low Impedance: Select the 8 Ohm setting.
  • Warning: Do not set the selector to 8 Ohm when connected to a 70/100V line.

Sound System Design

For wall mounting, install speakers at a height of 2 to 2.5 meters. The maximum distance between adjacent speakers should not exceed 5–6 meters in rooms up to 4–5 meters wide. For wider areas (8–10 meters), alternating installation on both walls is recommended.

Technical Specifications

Both models feature an extruded aluminum enclosure, a ceramic terminal block with a thermal fuse, and an internal crossover.

  • VERTUS CLA 203T: 2 x 3" LF woofers, 1" HF driver, 60W RMS recommended amplifier power.
  • VERTUS CLA 204T: 2 x 4" LF woofers, 1" HF driver, 80W RMS recommended amplifier power.

Common problems

Hum or noise in the system

Ensure loudspeaker lines are not routed together with mains cables or low-level signal cables.

System instability or risk of falling

Use only original FBT mounting brackets and ensure the support surface is capable of bearing the load.

Incorrect impedance/voltage matching

Verify that the amplifier output matches the speaker's selected power setting (70/100V) or impedance (8 Ohm).

Before use

  • Verify the mounting surface can support the speaker weight.
  • Ensure an external DSP processor with official FBT presets is available.
  • Check the IP rating suitability (203T for outdoor, 204T for indoor).
  • Ensure the amplifier output is compatible with the speaker's settings.
  • Check that all screws and bolts are tightened securely.

Images and diagrams

  • Wiring diagram shows parallel connection of multiple speakers using the ceramic terminal block.
  • WM-23 installation diagram illustrates vertical and horizontal mounting options.
  • Sound system design diagram shows recommended spacing and height for uniform coverage.

Model compatibility

  • 203T is IP55 rated for outdoor use.
  • 204T is IP21C rated for indoor use only.
  • External DSP processor is mandatory for both models.
