Quick guide from the manual
The Fender Hammertone Delay is a versatile delay effect pedal designed to add dimension and ambiance to your sound. This guide covers the essential controls, connections, and internal adjustments to help you get started.
Device overview
The pedal features several controls to shape your delay sound:
- Time: Adjusts the delay time, up to a maximum of one second.
- Feedback: Controls the volume of the signal repeats. At maximum, repeats will increase in volume, potentially causing pleasant distortion.
- Level: Adjusts the volume of the repeats, from completely dry (no delay) to unity gain.
- Type Switch: Selects between three modes: Digital delay (up), Analog delay 1 (middle, darker), and Analog delay 2 (down, mid-focused).
- Mod Switch: Activates or deactivates the modulation effect on the signal repeats.
- Footswitch: Engages or bypasses the effect.
- LED: Indicates when the effect is active.
Connections
- Input: High-impedance input for electric guitar, bass, acoustic guitars with pickups, keyboards, and other instruments.
- Output: Low-impedance output for connection to an amplifier or the next pedal in your signal chain.
- DC Power: Standard jack for a 9V DC power supply (center negative).
Internal adjustments
The pedal includes internal trim potentiometers for fine-tuning the modulation effect. To access these, remove the back cover using a flat-head screwdriver.
- Speed: Adjusts the modulation rate when the Mod switch is active.
- Depth: Adjusts the modulation depth when the Mod switch is active.
Use a Phillips screwdriver to adjust these potentiometers.
Safety and specifications
Always use a regulated 9V DC power supply with a center-negative polarity. Do not expose the unit to moisture or rain. For cleaning, use a damp cloth and ensure the unit is completely dry before reconnecting.
