This manual provides installation and operating instructions for the Hansgrohe Ecostat S, E, and Square thermostatic mixers. These products are designed for bathing, hygienic, and body cleaning purposes. Important: Hot and cold water supplies must have equal pressure. The product is designed exclusively for drinking water.
Safety Notes
- Gloves must be worn during installation to prevent crushing and cutting injuries.
- Children and adults with physical, mental, or sensory impairments must not use this product without supervision.
- Persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs are prohibited from using this product.

Installation Instructions
Prior to installation, inspect the product for transport damage. Once installed, transport or surface damage will not be honored. Pipes and fixtures must be installed, flushed, and tested according to applicable standards and local plumbing codes.

Requirements:
- The unit must be mounted on a finished, waterproofed wall surface (usually tiles).
- If using power tools, wear safety glasses and disconnect tools from the power supply after use.
- Check for hidden pipes and cables in the wall before drilling.
- If installing with a gravity-fed system, there must be a minimum head (vertical distance) of at least 5 meters from the underside of the cold water storage tank to the showerhead.
Operation and Adjustment
The thermostat features a safety stop at 40°C. If a higher temperature is required, the safety stop can be overridden by depressing the safety button. After installation, the output temperature must be checked and corrected if it differs from the set temperature.

Maintenance

- Check valves must be inspected regularly (at least once a year) according to EN 806-5 and regional regulations.
- To ensure smooth operation, turn the thermostat from total hot to total cold periodically.
- If water flow drops, clean the filters.
Troubleshooting
- Insufficient water: Check supply pressure, clean regulator filter, or clean shower filter seal/insert.
- Crossflow (hot into cold or vice versa): Clean or exchange backflow preventers.
- Temperature mismatch: Adjust thermostat or increase hot water temperature to 42°C - 60°C.
- Temperature regulation not possible: Exchange thermo cartridge or check if the function block is installed with 180° rotation.
- Diverter stiff/leaking: Clean valve seat or exchange diverter.
Technical Data
- Operating pressure: max. 1 MPa (10 bar)
- Recommended operating pressure: 0.1 - 0.5 MPa
- Test pressure: 1.6 MPa
- Hot water temperature: max. 60°C
- Thermal disinfection: 70°C / 4 min
