This document provides installation and maintenance instructions for the Hansgrohe Locarno 04839xx1 wall outlet. For optimal performance and safety, Hansgrohe recommends that the unit be installed by a licensed, professional plumber. To prevent scalding, the maximum output temperature of the shower valve must not exceed 120°F (49°C), or 112°F (42°C) in Massachusetts. The unit includes built-in backflow protection via two check valves.

Installation

1. Prepare the Nipple: Install a 1/2 inch NPT male threaded nipple so that it extends 5/8 inch to 7/8 inch (16-22 mm) outside the surface of the finished wall.
2. Seal the Wall: Wrap the threads on the nipple with plumber's tape. Seal the wall around the nipple with waterproof sealant to prevent potential water damage.
3. Install Support and Elbow: Push the support element over the nipple and install the elbow.
4. Install Cover: Attach the cover to the assembly.
5. Final Seal: Place a dab of waterproof sealant at the grout joints.

Check valve maintenance

If the check valves require maintenance, they can be accessed and cleaned. Ensure the water supply is turned off before attempting any maintenance. The check valves are identified as item 94074000 in the parts breakdown.

Cleaning recommendations

To maintain the finish and functionality of your Hansgrohe product:

• Clean the product when needed to prevent mineral scale and soap residue buildup.
• Use a cleaning agent specifically intended for the product type.
• Do not use: Cleaners containing hydrochloric acid, formic acid, lye, or acetic acid; abrasive powders, pads, or brushes; steam cleaners; or "no-rinse" cleaning agents.
• Do not spray cleaners directly onto the product; spray onto a soft cloth or sponge instead.
• Rinse thoroughly with clear water and polish dry with a soft cloth after cleaning.
