Table of contents

Product Overview

The HiKOKI D 10VF, D 10VG, D 13VF, and D 13VG are professional-grade mains-operated rotary drills designed for boring holes in metal, wood, and plastic. These models feature high-torque motors and are available with either keyed or keyless chucks depending on the specific configuration.

Safety Precautions

  • Always wear ear protection when using impact drills to prevent hearing loss.
  • Use the supplied auxiliary side handle to maintain control and prevent personal injury.
  • Do not wear loose clothing or gloves made of materials that can roll up (e.g., cotton, wool, string).
  • Before drilling into walls, ceilings, or floors, ensure there are no hidden electrical cables or conduits.
  • Always disconnect the power plug before making adjustments, changing accessories, or storing the tool.

Operation

The drill speed is controlled by the trigger switch; pulling it slightly results in low speed, while pulling it further increases the speed. A stopper button is provided for continuous operation. The rotational direction can be reversed using the push button on the body (R for clockwise, L for counter-clockwise). For models D13VF and D13VG, an optional angle attachment is available for specialized drilling tasks.

Maintenance and Inspection

  • Drill Bits: Replace or resharpen abraded drill bits immediately to prevent motor malfunction and maintain efficiency.
  • Mounting Screws: Regularly inspect all screws to ensure they are properly tightened.
  • Motor: Keep the motor winding clean and free from oil or water.
  • Carbon Brushes: Inspection and replacement of carbon brushes must only be performed by a HiKOKI Authorized Service Center to ensure electrical safety.

Practical help

Common problems

Drill bit stuck in material

Release the trigger immediately, remove the bit from the workpiece, and start again. Do not repeatedly click the trigger to force the motor.

Chuck cannot be removed

Do not strike the wrench forcibly. Send the drill to a HiKOKI Authorized Service Center.

Drill shakes violently when piercing through

Reduce pressure on the drill and ease the bit through the last part of the hole.

Before use

  • Ensure the power source matches the voltage on the product nameplate.
  • Check that the power switch is in the OFF position before plugging in.
  • Verify that the side handle and handle joint (if applicable) are securely installed.
  • Ensure the drill bit is correctly mounted and tightened in the chuck.
  • Check that the rotational direction is set correctly (R/L).
  • Confirm no electrical cables or pipes are behind the drilling surface.

Specs in practice

No load speed
The rotational speed of the drill without any resistance, varying by model (e.g., 0-3000 min-1 for D10VF).
Drill chuck capacity
The maximum diameter of the drill bit shank that the chuck can securely hold (10 mm or 13 mm depending on model).

Model compatibility

  • Angle attachment is an optional accessory specifically for models D13VF and D13VG.
  • Hook (A) is an optional accessory for all models but requires professional installation.
  • Drill bit selection: Use metalworking bits for metal/plastic and woodworking bits for wood (unless hole is 6.5mm or smaller).
