Quick guide from the manual
This document provides essential operating instructions for the HiKOKI DV 18V impact drill. Before use, ensure the power source matches the tool's nameplate requirements. Always use the side handle and hold the tool firmly with both hands during operation.
Device description and setup
The drill features a chuck (keyed or keyless), a side handle, and a depth gauge. To mount a bit in a keyed chuck, use the chuck wrench to tighten the jaws clockwise. For a keyless chuck, turn the sleeve clockwise to secure the bit. Attach the side handle by rotating it clockwise to secure it in the desired position.
Operation and modes
The drill offers two main modes: ROTATION (for metal, wood, and plastic) and IMPACT (for concrete, stone, and tiles). Use the change lever to switch between these modes. The trigger switch controls speed; pulling it further increases the speed. A speed control dial allows for pre-selecting the desired rotation speed. A stopper button is available for continuous operation.
Drilling tips
- Start drilling slowly and gradually increase speed.
- Apply pressure in a straight line with the bit.
- If the drill stalls, release the trigger immediately and remove the bit from the workpiece.
- Larger drill bits create higher reactive force; maintain a firm grip and a stable foothold.
Maintenance and safety
Regularly inspect drill bits for wear and replace or resharpen them as needed. Check all mounting screws periodically and tighten if loose. Carbon brush inspection and replacement, as well as supply cord repairs, must be performed only by an authorized HiKOKI Service Center. Keep the motor winding clean and free from oil or water.
