Quick guide from the manual

The Hilti NCT IS 053-A22 is a cordless, electro-hydraulic cutting tool designed for cutting copper (Cu) and aluminum (Al) cables. Before starting, ensure all live cables in the work area are de-energized. If this is not possible, implement appropriate safety precautions for working near live parts.

Device Overview

The tool features a cutting head, a manual piston return switch, a casing, a servicing/fault indicator (red LED), a battery release button, a battery slot, a slot for the Hilti retaining leash, a white LED for work area illumination, and a control switch.

Operation

  1. Battery Preparation: Charge the battery fully before first use. Ensure contacts are clean and dry.
  2. Inserting the Battery: Push the battery into the tool until it engages with an audible click.
  3. Cutting Procedure: Rotate the cutting head to the desired position. Place the cable to be cut into the head. Press and hold the control switch until the tool releases pressure (accompanied by an audible pop). The tool returns to its initial position automatically.
  4. Cold Weather Operation: If the hydraulic oil is thick due to cold, perform 5-10 empty pressing operations to warm up the tool.

Safety and Maintenance

  • Safety: Always wear protective glasses. Do not use the tool in heavy rain or underwater. Do not use the battery as a striking tool.
  • Maintenance: Remove the battery before any care or maintenance. Clean the housing with a slightly damp cloth; do not use silicone-based cleaning agents. Clean air vents with a dry, soft brush.
  • Battery Care: Keep battery vents clear. Avoid exposing the battery to excessive dust, dirt, or moisture.
  • Cooling: After approximately 100 consecutive cuts, switch the tool off and allow it to cool for about 15 minutes.

Troubleshooting

If the tool is not working, check the battery charge status. If the battery LEDs flash, refer to the troubleshooting section in the manual. For technical problems indicated by a continuous red LED and warning tone, contact Hilti Service.
