Quick Guide

This guide provides essential instructions for operating your Michelin 12V Tyre Compressor. Always refer to your vehicle's manual for the manufacturer's recommended tyre pressures.

Product Overview

The Michelin 12V Tyre Compressor features a detachable digital gauge, a high-power motor capable of inflating a standard tyre in 3 minutes, and a built-in LED light for valve illumination. It is designed for use with 12V vehicle power sockets.

Safety Precautions

  • Never allow children to use the compressor.
  • Do not leave the compressor running unattended.
  • Use only in a safe area away from traffic.
  • Only suitable for negative earth vehicles.
  • Do not over-inflate tyres.

Checking Tyre Pressure

It is recommended to check tyre pressure before inflation using the detachable gauge.

Detachable digital gauge operation
Detachable digital gauge operation
  1. Detach the digital gauge from the compressor.
  2. Press button (B) to switch the gauge on.
  3. Press the nozzle onto the tyre valve, ensuring a good seal.
  4. Hold until the pressure reading appears on the LCD screen.
  5. Remove the gauge from the valve and note the reading.
  6. Press and hold button (B) for 3 seconds to switch off.

Inflating Tyres

  1. Replace the digital gauge into the inflator recess until it clicks.
  2. Unwind the electric cable completely.
  3. Ensure the power switch is in the '0' (off) position.
  4. Connect the 12V plug to the vehicle's power socket.
  5. Wait a few seconds until the gauge displays '0 BAR'.
  6. Screw the thumb lock connector onto the tyre valve.
  7. Switch the power to '1' to begin inflation.
  8. Monitor the pressure on the gauge.
  9. Switch to '0' to stop inflation.

Important: Never remove the digital gauge while the compressor is running. If you over-inflate, use the deflation bleed valve button to release air until the desired pressure is reached.

Troubleshooting

  • Gauge does not light up: Check that the 12V plug is fully inserted and the power light is illuminated. If not, check the 10A fuse in the plug. Your car ignition may need to be in the accessory position.
  • Unit runs hot: Allow the unit to cool for 10 minutes. Do not run for more than 10 minutes continuously.
  • Unit running but tyre not inflating: Ensure the thumb lock connector is correctly fitted to the tyre valve.

Fuse Replacement

If the unit fails to power on, the fuse in the 12V plug may need replacement.

Replacing the 12V plug fuse
Replacing the 12V plug fuse
  1. Unscrew the knurled ring on the 12V plug by turning it anticlockwise.
  2. Remove the old fuse and replace it with a new one (max 10A).
  3. Screw the knurled ring back on.

Maintenance

  • Regularly check hoses and adaptors for damage.
  • Keep the inflator in its box when not in use.
  • Do not allow the unit to get wet.
  • Do not over-stretch the power lead.
