This document provides instructions for installing Rough Country Overland Steps on 2019+ Ram 1500 Crew Cab vehicles. Before beginning, ensure you have all necessary parts and tools. Always verify hardware tightness and ensure adequate clearance between all components after installation.

Kit contents and tools

Tools needed:

• 13mm Wrench / Socket

Kit contents:

• Driver Side Step (x1)
• Pass Side Step (x1)
• Driver Side Rear Bracket (x1)
• Driver Side Front / Center Bracket (x2)
• Pass Bracket (x3)

Hardware included:

• 8mm x 30mm Bolt (x6)
• 8mm Flat Washer (x30)
• 8mm Lock Washer (x6)
• 8mm Lock Nut (x24)
• 8mm T-Bolt (x6)

Torque specifications

Proper torque is essential for safety. Refer to the table below for standard torque values based on bolt size and grade/class.

• 5/16": 15 ft/lbs (Grade 5), 20 ft/lbs (Grade 8)
• 3/8": 30 ft/lbs (Grade 5), 35 ft/lbs (Grade 8)
• 7/16": 45 ft/lbs (Grade 5), 60 ft/lbs (Grade 8)
• 1/2": 65 ft/lbs (Grade 5), 90 ft/lbs (Grade 8)
• 9/16": 95 ft/lbs (Grade 5), 130 ft/lbs (Grade 8)
• 5/8": 135 ft/lbs (Grade 5), 175 ft/lbs (Grade 8)
• 3/4": 185 ft/lbs (Grade 5), 280 ft/lbs (Grade 8)
• 6MM: 5 ft/lbs (Class 8.8), 9 ft/lbs (Class 10.9)
• 8MM: 18 ft/lbs (Class 8.8), 23 ft/lbs (Class 10.9)
• 10MM: 32 ft/lbs (Class 8.8), 45 ft/lbs (Class 10.9)
• 12MM: 55 ft/lbs (Class 8.8), 75 ft/lbs (Class 10.9)
• 14MM: 85 ft/lbs (Class 8.8), 120 ft/lbs (Class 10.9)
• 16MM: 130 ft/lbs (Class 8.8), 165 ft/lbs (Class 10.9)
• 18MM: 170 ft/lbs (Class 8.8), 240 ft/lbs (Class 10.9)

Installation instructions

1. Remove stock steps if installed. Note that stock hardware will not be reused.
2. Refer to the bracket placement diagram and install the front bracket in the factory mounting holes on the driver side using the supplied 8mm bolts, lock washers, and flat washers. Tighten using a 13mm wrench/socket.
3. Place the center and rear brackets in position on the factory mounts and secure using the supplied 8mm bolts, lock washers, and flat washers. Tighten using a 13mm wrench/socket.
4. Place the steps on the step brackets and align the mounting plates. Place the nut plate in the mounting plates on the steps and secure using the supplied 8mm bolts, lock washers, lock nuts, and (4) flat washers for each bolt plate. Tighten with a 13mm wrench.
5. Repeat the process for the passenger side of the vehicle.

Maintenance

Periodically check and tighten all hardware to ensure the steps remain secure.
