The Ruud Ultra Plug-in Heat Pump with HydroBoost is designed for easy installation, plugging directly into a standard 120V wall outlet. It features integrated Wi-Fi connectivity via EcoNet, demand response readiness, and is compatible with optional leak detection and prevention kits. Proper installation requires attention to room size and ventilation to ensure optimal efficiency.

Installation Guidelines
Installation requirements depend on the room size and whether the unit is ducted:

- Room size larger than 700 ft³: No additional ventilation is needed for non-ducted installations.
- Room size smaller than 700 ft³: Requires a full louvered door or two louvers (top and bottom) for non-ducted installations.
- Ducted installations: If using inlet or outlet ducts, ensure an air gap under the door equal to 18 in² (0.75" clearance).
- Clearances: Maintain 0" clearance at the rear and sides, and 6" at the top.
- Temperature Notice: If the ambient temperature in the installation location drops more than 15°F (8°C) during heating, air circulation is insufficient. Use ducting to direct cold exhaust air to another location.
Operation Modes
- Heat Pump: Standard efficient operation.
- Vacation/Away: Can be set for 2-28 days or placed on hold indefinitely.
Integration and Smart Features
- EcoNet Wi-Fi: Integrated technology allows control via a mobile app for temperature, scheduling, and system monitoring.
- Demand Response: Built-in EcoPort (CTA-2045 Port) for easy connection to utility programs.
- Leak Protection: Ready for LeakGuard and LeakSense upgrades to detect and prevent water damage.
Technical Specifications
The units are available in 40, 50, 65, and 80-gallon capacities. All units operate on 120V / 1 PH electric power. Key performance metrics include:
- Ambient Operating Range: 37-145°F.
- Efficiency: Up to 3.46 UEF.
- Recovery: 12 G.P.H at 60°F rise.
Service Parts and Accessories

- Ducting: Inlet/Outlet Duct Adapters and various termination kits (5" to 8" diameter).
- Installation Kits: Earthquake Isolation Kit and Vibration Isolation Kit for non-concrete floors.
Practical help
Common problems
Air circulation is insufficient. Utilize ducting to direct cold exhaust air to another location.
Ensure an air gap under the door of 18 in² (0.75" clearance), position the louver at the same height as the air exhaust, and ensure exhaust is within one foot of the door.
Before use
- Verify room size (larger than 700 ft³ for non-ducted installation).
- Ensure 6-inch top clearance for T&P valve release.
- Check if a standard 120V wall outlet is available.
- Confirm if ducting is required based on room size.
- Ensure the installation location ambient temperature is within the 37-145°F range.
