The Scanstrut Ventura Series 12V Power Outlet is designed for marine and automotive use. Professional electrician installation is recommended. The unit requires a 32mm hole for mounting and must be sealed with silicone or automotive sealant to maintain its IP68/IP69K waterproof rating. It is compatible with 12V cigarette lighter plugs with a minimum barrel length of 44mm.
Installation
Follow these steps to install the power outlet:
- Cut out the provided template and tape it to the mounting surface.
- Use the template to drill one 32mm (1 1/4") hole and the necessary pilot holes as specified in the Pilot Drill Table.
- Apply silicone or automotive sealant to the four No.6 PH2 Panhead mounting screws.
- Secure the housing assembly to the mounting surface. Do not overtighten the screws.
Wiring
Ensure the power supply is switched off before starting installation. An appropriate fuse or circuit breaker must be used between the battery/power source and the product. Check for correct polarity of all wiring before switching the power on. If using a 24V system, a voltage converter is required.
Safety and Warnings
- The IP protection rating (IP68/IP69K) applies to the front only and is valid only when the lid is fully closed and not in use.
- Do not leave the lid in an open position when driving or underway.
- This product is not approved for use in hazardous or flammable atmospheres, such as engine rooms.
- Ensure the area behind the mounting location is clear of wires, fuel, and other hazardous objects before drilling.
- The product does not contain user-serviceable parts; do not attempt to repair or modify it.

Common problems
Lid left open while driving
Ensure the lid is securely latched closed when not in use to prevent damage to the product and mounting surface.
Device plug not fitting or making contact
Ensure the device plug has a minimum barrel length of 44mm (1.73"), measured between the end of the barrel at the sprung positive terminal pin and the point where the barrel begins to widen.
Water ingress
Ensure the installation is on a flat, smooth, and non-porous surface and that the perimeter of the seal is compressed. The IP rating is only valid when the lid is fully closed.
Before use
- Ensure the 12V DC power source is switched off.
- Verify the mounting surface is flat, smooth, and non-porous.
- Check that the area behind the mounting location is clear of wires, fuel, and hazardous objects.
- Have silicone or automotive sealant ready for the mounting screws.
- Ensure an appropriate fuse or circuit breaker is installed between the battery and the product.
- Verify the device plug barrel length is at least 44mm.
