Quick guide from the manual
The Sealey 2201HL is a 2-tonne long-reach high-lift trolley jack designed for light commercial vehicles. Before using the jack for the first time, it is essential to purge the hydraulic system of air. Always ensure the jack is used on a level, solid surface and that the vehicle is properly chocked and the handbrake is engaged.
Assembly
Follow these steps to assemble the jack:
- Handle and Foot Pedal: Refer to the parts diagram to fit the handle and foot pedal. Loosen the locating bolt at the side of the handle base, push the handle into the socket, and re-tighten the bolt, ensuring it fits correctly into the control rod.
- Releasing the Retaining Clip: The handle socket is retained under tension. Push down on the handle and pull the clip securing the handle socket in the down position. Gently allow the handle to raise to its upright position. Replace the handle retaining bolt to secure it.
Operation
Before First Use: Purge the hydraulic unit to eliminate air. Turn the release valve control knob to the open position and pump the handle for 30 to 40 seconds. Close the release valve when complete.

Lifting and Lowering:
- Lifting: Ensure the release valve is closed. You can raise the jack by pumping the handle or using the foot pedal.
- Lowering: Reverse the direction of the release valve control knob to open the valve and lower the jack.
Maintenance
Only qualified personnel should perform maintenance. Regular maintenance includes:
- Lubrication: Keep the jack clean and lubricate all moving parts with acid-free oil regularly.
- Oil Level Check: Pump the jack to half height. With assistance, upend the jack so the ram is vertical. Remove the filler plug on top of the ram. The oil level should be just below the lower edge of the filling hole. Use only hydraulic jack oil (e.g., Sealey Hydraulic Jack Oil). Do not use brake fluid.
- Inspection: Before each use, check for cracked welds, damaged parts, or hydraulic leaks.
Safety
Always use axle stands to support the vehicle before working underneath it. Never exceed the rated capacity of 2000kg. Do not adjust the safety overload valve.
