This document provides essential instructions for setting up and using your TCL 10L 8491X tablet. It covers initial charging, microSD card installation, interface navigation, and basic connectivity.
Initial setup
Before using your tablet for the first time, ensure it is fully charged by connecting the USB cable. You can also insert a microSD card to expand storage capacity.
Home screen and navigation
The home screen allows quick access to apps, shortcuts, folders, and widgets. You can swipe horizontally to view extended screens or swipe up to view the full application list.
- Status bar: Swipe down to access notifications and quick settings.
- Search bar: Tap the Google search bar for text searches or the microphone icon for voice searches.
- Favorite tray: Access frequently used apps at the bottom of the screen.
Notifications and quick settings
Swipe down from the status bar to view notifications. Swipe down twice to access the Quick Settings panel, where you can toggle features on or off and access the Settings menu to customize your device.
Contacts
Manage your contacts via the Contacts app. You can add, delete, or edit contacts, and import/export them from various sources like Gmail or external storage. Contacts can be synced across multiple accounts.
Gmail
Your tablet automatically syncs with your Gmail account during initial setup. You can manage multiple accounts by going to the Inbox, tapping the Menu button, and selecting Add account. To compose an email, tap the Compose button, enter the recipient, subject, and content, then tap Send.
Connectivity
To connect to the internet via Wi-Fi:
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi.
- Toggle the Wi-Fi switch to ON.
- Select a network from the list. If secured, enter the password and tap CONNECT.
- For hidden networks, select Add network, enter the SSID and security credentials, then tap CONNECT.

Common problems
Cannot connect to a hidden Wi-Fi network
Select 'Add network' in Wi-Fi settings, manually enter the SSID, password, and security credentials, then tap CONNECT.
Need to add a second email account
In the Gmail app, tap the Menu button in the Inbox, tap the down arrow next to your account name, and select 'Add account'.
Before use
