Quick guide from the manual
This manual provides essential safety and operational instructions for the Telwin 11DIN automatic darkening welding helmet. It is designed to protect the face and eyes from harmful UV/IR radiation, sparks, and welding spatter. Important: Do not use this helmet for laser welding, oxy-acetylene welding/cutting, or as protection against explosions or corrosive liquids.
Helmet Adjustments
Proper adjustment is crucial for safety and comfort:
- Perimeter strap: Adjust the front and rear straps manually to fit your head size. Use the knob to tighten.
- Strap height: Adjust the two graduated belts on the top of the head so the strap sits just above the eyebrows.
- Distance: Loosen the external knobs to slide the helmet forward or backward relative to your face.
- Inclination: Loosen the side knobs to set the ideal viewing angle. If needed, press the side buttons to move the cursors and exceed the preset angle limit.
Use and Settings
Before welding, ensure the filter and protective plates are correctly positioned. If your model allows, adjust the Shade (luminous gradation), Sensitivity, and Delay-time based on the welding current and procedure. Always perform a test using the "TEST" button or a bright light source before starting to weld. If the filter does not darken, do not begin.
Maintenance and Cleaning
- Batteries: Replace when the "LOW BAT" LED lights up.
- Protective plates: Replace immediately if broken, scratched, or deformed.
- Cleaning: Use a soft cloth with non-aggressive cleaning solutions (e.g., window cleaner). Do not pour cleaner directly on the filter.
- Sensors: Regularly check that solar cells and sensors are not blocked or dirty.
Troubleshooting
- Filter does not darken or is unstable: Check if the external protective plate is dirty/damaged, clean the sensors, or increase the sensitivity.
- Slow switching: Ensure the operating temperature is not below -5°C (+23°F).
- Poor visibility: Clean or replace dirty/damaged protective plates or the filter, ensure sufficient ambient light, or check the shade setting.

Common problems
Clean the external protective plate and sensors, or increase sensitivity.
Ensure operating temperature is above -5°C (+23°F).
Clean or replace protective plates/filter, improve ambient lighting, or adjust shade setting.
Before use
- Check that the filter and protective plates are correctly positioned.
- Ensure the helmet is intact and free of molten metal drops.
- Test the darkening function using the 'TEST' button or a bright light source.
- Verify that the shade setting is appropriate for the welding current and procedure.
Specs in practice
- Shade (Luminous gradation)
- The level of darkness of the filter; must be adjusted based on welding current.
- Switching time
- The speed at which the filter darkens (< 0.0004 s).
- Operating temperature
- The range in which the helmet functions correctly (-5°C to +55°C).
Model compatibility
- Protective plates must be marked with the same impact resistance symbol (F) as the helmet.
- Not suitable for laser welding or oxy-acetylene welding/cutting.
